Can we just do something, anything different please? What we're doing now evidently isn't working. We have nothing at all to lose as if we stick with the same as then we'll probably just not score and lose anyway.

----------------------------Sa--------------------

Semedo---------Coady------Boly--------Jonny

-----------------------Neves-----------------------

------------Moutinho-----------Cundle------------

-----------------------Podence----------------------

----------------Jimenez--------Silva------------------

Play Neto if Podence isn't fit, Donck if Neves isn't fit.

2021/22: W 1-0 (A)
2020/21: W 2-1 (H), D 3-3 (A)
2019/20: D 0-0 (H), D 2-2 (A)
2018/19: D 0-0 (H), L 0-1 (A)
2016/17: L 0-2 (H), L 0-1 (A)
2015/16: D 0-0 (H), W 1-0 (A)
2014/15: D 1-1 (H), D 1-1 (A)
2012/13: D 3-3 (H), L 0-2 (A)
2005/6: W 1-0 (H), D 1-1 (A)
2004/5: D 1-1 (H), W 1-0 (A)
2002/3: D 1-1 (H), L 1-4 (A)

How long in Kilman out for? Are Podence and Neves likely to be back? I feared Neves would only be back for the last couple of games?

E&S said last week Neves was in decent contention to be back for this one (maybe they're just guessing, who knows).

Think Kilman is done for the season.

I'd be happy with DWs team, as he said, anything different would be great, whatever the outcome.

Agreed. I'd like to see Bruno use the final games to give us a sense of what next season may bring, and how he wants us to play, whether that's a back four or trying something different up front

If I was a betting man I'd put money on him dropping Silva for this game. It's the kind of thing he does.

Happy with that. Equally if RAN plays as a fullback I wouldn’t mind.

Midfield if everyone fit it’s a toss up between cundle and donk

Well, if it’s goals he’s looking for, I guess he’d have a point.

He could still be playing now after the weekend and he wouldn’t have scored. Just doesn’t look like he has any strikers instinct, to me. And, of course, some better service would help.

Unless, of course, he’s looking for strikers that look like puppy dogs chasing balloons?

If so, Fab’s your man.

I don't agree with changing the formation, the key thing is getting Neves and Podence back in the team, that will improve us alone.

Experimenting with the formation when we still have a chance of Europe seems daft to me, maybe when that chance is all but gone.

Especially when we pretty much all agree that none of our CBs are suited to 4 at the back anyway, until our players who have played 3/5 at the back for years now have had a full summer training in a 4 i don't see the benefit at all.

We all saw in pre season how easily we were cut open with 4 at the back, why would it be any different now?!

Because you wouldn't or at least shouldn't park the centre halves on the half way line

Sa
Boly Coady Saiss
Semedo Neves Moutinho Jonny
Neto
Fabio Raul

Play them as a proper two not like at Burnley.

It will probably be Hwang and Raul up top, and wouldn't surprise me if a midfield three either of Neves/Cundle, Donck and Moutinho

But we would, as that's what Lage did in pre season with a 4, so again, why would it be any different now?

Also if we are playing 4 at the back but sitting deep, what is the benefit?

Yep, would love to see that team, i had hoped that Raul and Fabio as a front two was what we would see at Burnley, but no, we shoe-horned an already lacking in confidence Raul into a RW position.

I worry a little about Neto, we've seen nothing from him as yet, but you'd hope it's minutes that will make him sharper.

To save repetition it was discussed on the Burnley verdict thread.

Personally I don't necessarily agree that none of our CBs can play in a back four. Tbh I just don't know, dont think we've ever played more than 2 consecutive games with a 4 have we under Nuno/Bruno?

Well exactly, we don't know. But we do know that with a back 3/5 we CAN defend well and not concede (many) and win games, we've won as many games as we did in 19/20 (15) and only one less than we did in our first season back, so why change things now? For a formation witha tiny sample size (which didn't go well) and which looked fucking awful in pre season, it's madness.

As said i'd be much comfortable changing to a 4 after a few weeks/months of training to play that way and hopefully buying the right personnel to fit it than knee-jerking into it because of a a couple of poor results when our best player(s) are missing.

All of our players (especially our defenders) are used to a 3/5, now is not the time to change things, despite the "we have nothing to lose" mantra, we actually do have something to lose, as we are still (somehow) in with a chance of Europe.

I'd much prefer we stick with the 3/5 but pick our better players and don't do stupid shit like play Raul and/or Hwang on the wing.

I'd really like to see Chiquinho and Neto start either side of Fabio, although i am worried about Neto, and obviously there is no way Lage starts with Chiquinho, which is a shame as i think his urgency and desire really help the mentality of the players around him.

Need a name change to 'You Gotta Fabio with it' here:

We only have a notional chance of Europe given we're very likely to lose at least 3 of our remaining 5 games, and if we play as we have for most of the last 2-3 months we'll lose on Saturday anyway.
