Brentford (A) build up

Sav was fine on Saturday tbf. Offered nothing going forward but then I wouldn't expect him to be able to play in the way you would want a wingback to operate. Defensively his positioning was no problem at all, having an actual left footer there really does help us and when he had to put in tackles, chase back, not let his man breeze past him, fill in at the back stick then he did it.

As an orthodox LB I don't think he's the worst short-term sticking plaster option. Had enough of seeing a complete liability who is obviously on the wrong side there.

Jota being a really stern test of a left backs positioning and decision making in the Brentford fixture. Keep Jota quiet and you reduce their effectiveness as with Wolves and Costa.

Oh goody, can't wait for him to tell the press that they don't understand and if they knew football they would know that everything is rosy and Saturday's performance was just the tip of the iceberg.

At Compton taking training apparently

Good to see that the newest addition to the squad is "his masters voice"...Must be some longer serving players impressed with that :icon_lol:

Yeah well, most of them are shit so they are more than welcome to get the hump and leave

Must not lose game. The DMs will carry on at full-back and Edwards will still play at 10.

Surprised to see so many attacking line-ups mooted.

Isn't Marshall at training, then?

Indeed.

Just watched the Marshall interview which was filmed on the training ground, all looked and sounded very quiet behind him and he sounded like he'd just found out his granny had died

Blimey Marshall has got some charisma proper character that lad.

First game for me since Brighton away.

I'd never have believed we'd find ourselves in this mess back then and I'm really struggling to work out what's going on. I'd figured Zenga was the weak link but evidently the problems run much deeper than the manager.

Going to Brentford more in hope than expectation and increasingly fearful that the table doesn't lie.

Plan to get to more than my usual half a dozen games next year - irrespective of which league - but quietly confident it'll be this one.

Thanks to those contributors that post regularly on here, it does help in trying to fathom what's going on and fill in the gaps. A poor showing tomorrow and the confidence will take a hit and I'll maybe understand what some of you guys are saying more clearly.

Either way, it's all seems a bit of a mess. Certainly wasn't expecting that at the start of the season.

Whatever else Lambert does would like to see Cavaleiro on from the start - he's been on the bench & put on for the odd few mins so assume that he is fit enough - if he's not then he shouldn't have been used that way.

Either play him on the opposite side to Costa to give their defence something other to think about or preferably, for me, in the 10 role

I always feel somewhat saddened when the Wolves v Brentford fixture comes around, because of how badly I think Peter Broadbent was treated by the club after he sadly passed away in 2013. Sadly, I never saw Peter play, but my Father, who is sadly no longer with us, bless him, saw the vast majority of Peter Broadbent's home games for Wolves and in his opinion, he was second only to the great Billy Wright C.B.E. He described Peter as the 'ultimate playmaker'.

Peter started his career at Brentford before being transferred to Wolves. Between 1951 and 1965 he made 452 appearances and scored 127 goals, not a bad haul for an Inside Right, helping the club to three league titles and and an F.A. Cup. But for the ridiculous England 'Committee' that picked the England team back then, with so much chopping and changing on a regular basis, with the usual London bias, he would surely have had a lot more than the seven caps he picked up for England.

George Best said that Peter was the player that he most admired and Sir Alex Ferguson said that at that time, Peter was his favourite player.

When Peter sadly passed away on 1st October 2013, WWFC incredulously decided to 'pay their respects to him' before the Notts County game in the Johnstone Paint Trophy, with only about 7,000 in attendance ?

You would have thought that with Peter's history and achievements in the game and having spent 14 years at Wolves, the club would have given him a far more fitting tribute.

I would like the Club to retrospectively give Peter a proper 'send-off', deserving of his achievements at Wolves.

We have some rather important home games coming up over the next two months. It would be wonderful to have a minutes applause from 25,000 fans prior to one of those games and it would give a massive lift to the fans which would hopefully spread to the team on the pitch that day, and hopefully inspire them to what will surely be a much needed win.

I would be interested to know what others think of the idea and / or if anyone knows the best person for me to contact at the club, please let me know. I have nothing to lose by asking the question. Just not sure how to go about giving this maximum exposure so any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read the post. UTW. Keep the faith, and here's to three points tomorrow night.

Don't agree with this.

Fulham will tear us a new one on Saturday and I think we're at the stage where it's worth risking an attacking line-up tomorrow to try and get the win rather than sit back and try to grind out a draw.

What I'd like:

Ikeme

Iorfa Williamson Hause Saville

Price Saiss

Costa Bright Cavalerio

Dicko

What I think we'll see:

Ikeme

Coady Batth Hause Saville

Price Saiss

Costa Edwards Marshall

Weimann

You think we should attack, I think we should play an attacking formation and loads of Wolves fans think the same. Lambert however...

Classic stick or twist scenario here. What are we good at away? Scoring first and holding on is probably it and playing 100% on the counter. So I would set up for an attacking counter side. I am also tweaking the idea of price and Saiss together. My concern for this one is cam Willo do three games in a week? If not Batth comes in unfortunately and we are back to a bit of hoofball.

Edwards next to price in front of Iorfa Batth/ Willo Hause Saville, with a three of Costa Marshall and Cav with Weimann up top. Williamson would be better in this game than Fulham if he cant do three in a week. Fulham score lots and concede lots. Need a point at least from this. Three is a bonus.
