Boxing thread

That's a great shot to end it, Whyte has felt that.

Great attacking to finish it. Those rounds will have done him good, plenty to work on.

Very good win, but also good to have brought him back to earth a bit.

He clearly needs more work on his boxing before he can step up to world class.

As much as I think Fury is awful, he would have just jabbed Joshua away today.

You're not going to blast through everyone in under five minutes. Got to pick and choose when he goes for the big shots as he steps up in class. And to be fair - he got rocked but he took the shot, he hasn't got a glass chin à la David Price.

Definitely, I had David Price in mind in round 2.

Good interview too.

Very impressed with him tonight. He's got the chin and he's got the brains to go with the speed and power.

David Haye's comeback fight will be shown live on Freeview channel Dave - 16/1/2016 Approx 10pm

He'll win easily on Saturday against a bit of a tin can. Agree Stu, think he beats Fury if the fitness is still there. Neither are especially powerful for HW so it'd come down to technique and Haye should school him really in that respect. Not sure it'd actually happen though! Fury still seems very bitter about the cancelled fight(s).

Interesting read today, Haye used to come in as light as possible as a HW to maintain his speed.
He's heavier, not as defined but heavier and perhaps better prepared to be a HW.

david haye has just destroyed the 10th best heavyweight.

Didn't see much of haye, but he looked good. Looks more like a heavyweight than he used to too. Good to have him back, great puncher.

I guess Dave will enjoy showing the repeats of that 1 Round of boxing for the next 400 years (inbetween Top Gear and QI)

De Mori a rabbit in the headlights from the 1st few seconds.

10th best heavy weight? He stood there and did fuck all. Invited himself to get knocked out and got it.

He's not the tenth best heavyweight at all. I have no idea where they have got that from, he's ranked 106 on boxrec and that's about right.

10th best in WBA rankings according to the pre-show bumf

Yeah they must have made that up or the WBA rankings are very very suspect. That's probably the case as i'm sure i read a story they had a fighter ranked 11th last year as a flyweight and he was dead.

David Have looks good at 16 st but he is 8 inches shorter than Fury and 5 inches shorter than Joshua. Said it before. I would go in the ring with Haye but would not go near Joshua. At my best at 6 ft 1 and fighting weight 14 st and some I was a blown up cruiserweight. That is what Haye is. Joshua and Fury would beat him.

Haye looked way more terrifying in that one fight than Fury has in any of his - I've never actually seen Fury really land powerful punches. He fights behind his jab and is successful at it, but I'd much rather watch Fury and Joshua.
