Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

Priti Vacant pulls out of Home Affairs Select Committee stating changes in government as a reason for not turning up.

She can't stand criticism and doesn't want to be made to look like a fool is a more likely reason.

So we have a Prime Minister who we can't VONC because he's resigned, but he hasn't resigned and he's still the Prime Minister.

We have a Home Secretary who won't turn up to meetings because there's a leadership contest, which she was part of 24 hours ago at least nominally, but last time I checked her job hasn't changed.

All of them a month or so ago were saying we couldn't change Prime Minister because there's a war on, only we aren't actually in that war.

Explaining the UK in 2022 to someone from say, 2002 would be quite difficult.

Truss tries to look like Thatcher, Mordaunt sounds like her. Calling it now, she's our next PM.

Instagram Liz has been doing her new voice to sound like Thatcher for months. Seriously, listen to a clip of her from 2017 or so and then the last year.

In a normal world Mordaunt would have no chance, she's done absolutely zero in Government. Of course it's not a normal world.

The looks like or sounds like?
Sounds like, not an impression like Truss, the words, delivery and unswerving confidence are the same. She's not faking it, they'll love her if she gets to the final 2

I’m on the other side of this one - the conversations I’ve had with moderately engaged people (generally conservative voters) would suggest people are fucking livid with the lies, parties and all of the other stuff. You don’t need to be politically engaged at all to be outraged at the behaviours and outright abuse of power in public office.

In fact, I go so far as to say it says an awful lot about the individuals themselves prepared to dismiss such abuse than it does about any lack of insight.
I don't disagree with your last sentence in the least. Assuming you're still in Epsom, you're just down the road from me (Guildford), so the demographic will be similar. I guess I just know more arseholes than you. (Yes, I'm talking about you, mother-in-law.)

He's only just got there. No reason for them to deport him yet....

Mordaunt is asked what seems to be a question about trans people, and how you define a woman. (It is not clear, because the questioner is not using a microphone, and so TV viewers cannot hear.) Mordaunt replies: 'It was Margaret Thatcher who said every prime minister needs a Willie. A woman like me does not have one.'

I don't agree with Tony, Penny Mordaunt is not going to be Prime Minister. She's profoundly unqualified in every way without the baked in advantages that similarly unqualified Theresa May and Boris Johnson had.

In the times we live in, doing absolutely zero in government over the last few years represents the best possible achievement in relative terms.

Again, in a normal world openly saying that you'll indulge in pork barrel politics wouldn't get you support. But, etc etc.

This is where Labour is missing a trick by not pushing through with the Vote of No Confidence. It doesn't matter of if it is worded against the Current PM or the Government as there is plenty of mud to throw at them. Call out the Leadership Candidates for what they are proposing.

She's not been subject to any scrutiny yet. Her campaign may fall apart over the next few days.

Zahawi on the verge of pulling out.

I'm inclined to agree with you. It's likely to be either her or Truss in the final two with Sunak.

I don't really know much about her, I'm just presuming she's awful as she's a Tory.

Haaaa Social Capital Pots - like the contracts they handed out to their mates during the pandemic.

Just call a General Election when the next idiot has been selected and let it play out. Whatever party gets the nod has got a horrible job on their hands. Society appears very splintered (always was I suppose) but I guess those marginals are best served by a LabLib pact.

She worked for George W Bush's campaign. Twice.

Also likes to lie about her Navy (reserve) service, which puts her on the same level as Mark Francois, only taller.

Actually has less substance than Truss, impressive.

Apparently Johnson is floating the idea of staying him staying in Government as an envoy to Ukraine.

Questions surrounding meetings with KGB agents and an as yet named guest who was on his unaccompanied by officials trip should kybosh such a thought. In fact, I'm typing bollocks as there should be no reason in the world why he should stay in Government. This is the Conservative Party though....

On Francois, on top of being in the house last week I've seen him at one of the leadership campaign events.
