Everything is aligned in Labour's favour.
The Tory government is embroiled in scandals, failures, corruption. The media, unusually, has been somewhat critical of the Tories lately and is extremely supportive of the Labour leader.

Yet here we are.

Yougov have changed the way they poll and it has resulted in the poll you put up.

If the poll was produced in the previous manner then Labour would have a 10pt lead.

I wonder why they've done this? Nothing to do with being owned by a Tory...

I am not surprised at all, founded by Tories and used to manipulate us for years now, but seen as **the** go to place for polling. I hope the other polls show this to be true.

What have they changed?

It is opinium who have changed their methology, I don't think Yougov have - but recent polls have shown the Lab support dropping in the last week which should probably be expected. The Prime Minister nearly looks statesmanlike at the moment, his utterances on Ukraine are carefully crafted and there is nothing better than a potential war to bump up the poll ratings of a government.

That and Keir Starmer and Labour benefit from an unpopular government more than from anything they do themselves.

I think the Saville thing has actually benefitted BoJo too. He's basically just said "I may be a clown, but I hate paedophiles. If you hate paedophiles then you can't like Labour", and shit loads have bought it

I come from a very Blue area. He's golden, because he saved the country from Covid and delivered Brexit. Plus he's not Labour, so won't be giving our hard earned wages away to scroungers and foreigners. And he's not a friend of paedos.
Record Covid death rates compared to the rest of Europe, Brexit far from delivered (and a guaranteed shitshow when it is), plus our hard earned wages being given to Tory cronies is all good 👍.
With a GE several years away and him being more of a barnacle than Boycs, I think we'll still see a Tory victory just not with the huge majority the Red Wall gave.

Loads of the Tory 2019 wins have paper thin majorities. Can more or less guarantee you right now that Stuart Anderson and Jane Stevenson would both lose in Wolves if there were a GE tomorrow.

Hung Parliament I think, which only highlights ever more what a shitshow FPTP is. Happily I'll actually have a vote that counts when I move to Wolves SW, I've had an entire decade where nothing I think makes any difference at all.

Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, has responded to the inflation data.

He said:

We understand the pressures people are facing with the cost of living.
These are global challenges but we have listened to people’s concerns and recently stepped in to provide millions of households with up to 350 to help with rising energy bills.
We’re also helping people on the lowest incomes keep more of what they earn by cutting the Universal Credit taper rate and freezing alcohol and fuel duties to keep costs down.
In total, we’re providing support with the cost of living worth over 20 billion across this financial year and next.

In power for 12 years and they are still rolling out the line on fuel duties to keep the costs down. Considering they are getting 4p a litre more in the treasury coffers on VAT in the last 12 months the line about keeping costs down just isn't true. I also think its patronising to put alcohol duties being frozen as helping those on the lowest incomes when people are struggling to heat homes and put food on the table. Alcohol is a luxury rather than a necessity.

Cost of lockdowns going to be with us for generations, you can't shut down an economy for years, pump £450bn of free money in and not expect inflation, unfortunately.
