Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

There is a real debate to be had around the impact that transgender rights has on CIS women, but it becomes toxic very quickly either by transphobes, the extremes of the pro trans lobby and grifters like Morgan

Back to the tramp in No 10 for a second....WTF is going on with his beak?

DIdn't Daniella Westbrook have a similar issue?

There are minimal cases of this though surely?

And it really has no bearing on how transgender people should be treated
It shouldn't have any bearing, and your comment has made me think a bit more.

I still think transgender people in sport is unfair. I also think everyone is entitled to their own rights, but when those rights start infringing on others rights is when we get issues.

I find it interesting that the group that seems to feel most threatened by transgender folk are traditional feminists - having unisex toilets shared with male predators who can simply say they identify as female is one huge issue.
Having men identifying as women being allowed on female hospital wards causes a similar issue too. Women who have previously been sexually assaulted must find it horrifying having to share what are supposed to be safe spaces.

I am all for people being able to identify as whatever gender they like or use whatever pronouns they like. Trans rights are obviously important and it is great that steps are being taken towards equality. However, it’s when trans rights can be seen to come at the expense of womens rights when there is an issue and you can’t really have a proper debate about to without being shouted down as a transphobe. Just look at how JK Rowling gets treated.

This probably isn’t the place for that discussion, however.

It's a really interesting debate. Toilet use has been one of the most difficult things for Jamie to deal with. I remember when he first came out as trans we were in Harlech on a break and he wanted to use the male toilets and it caused a lot of difficulties.

As someone who if I was asked to put label on it identifies as genderfluid I can certainly see both sides. I have several trans friends who won't unless absolutely desperate use public toilet facilities for fear of of getting abuse.

In today's round of utter bollocks:

Back in the Commons Harriet Baldwin (Con) suggests it would be helpful to issue the visa application form in Ukrainian.
Kevin Foster, the immigration minister, says the government is looking at providing guidance on filling in the form in Ukrainian and Russian.
But he says that translating the form itself into Ukrainian would require “a reasonably significant amount of technical work”. He also says it would be hard to find enough Ukrainain speakers to process the forms.

No it wouldn't Kevin, I could freelance it out this afternoon if I wanted to and probably ask for it back by Monday/Tuesday.

The responses wouldn't present a problem either.

Would cost fuck all. In fact some people might even do it pro bono if their circumstances allow, given the situation. Nice of you to call translating "technical work" though (it really, really, really fucking isn't, I do it and I'm an idiot).

Of course this lot would ask Dido Harding to sort it out, she'd sub it out to Serco for £200m and they'd send out a form printed in Serbo-Croat with half the pages missing. Then lose 60% of the ones that get sent back.

Notwithstanding that we shouldn't need people to fill in a massive fucking form anyway, there's a war on.

Rishi Sunak doesn't quite get the fact that questions will be asked that his family are gaining from a shareholding in a company operating in Russia. He's a leading figure in a Government that are doing all that they can, economically and politically, to stop the war in Ukraine and encourage companies to stop doing business there. There isn't a simple solution to his wife's shareholding in Infosys, but he could at least state something along the lines of that he or his wife have no say in where the worldwide company trades and will make a personal donation from any income received from the Russian element of the business to a victims of Ukraine Charity.

I don't think people are going at his wife more his connection to his family involvement in a company continuing to trade in Russia. Him getting riled by it shows that he thinks that the criticism is unwarranted and further shows how out of touch he is with the public.

His comments to forum favourite Laura K.

Actually, it’s very upsetting and, I think, wrong for people to try and come at my wife, and you know, beyond that actually, with regard to my father in law, for whom I have nothing but enormous pride and admiration for everything that he’s achieved, and no amount of attempted smearing is going to make me change that because he’s wonderful and has achieved a huge amount, as I said, I’m enormously proud of him.

The Ministerial Code clearly states that conflict of interests includes spouses/partners dealings. But of course he wouldn't know that...

In slightly related news, today is Laura K's last day as chief Political correspondent. Her final article about the last seven years in the job was actually quite an interesting read.

Yeah but she gets the Sunday morning show, so her oddball brand of being PR for whoever she likes at the moment (which is not reporting, or journalism, or anything other than shilling really) will have an even bigger audience than it currently has.

On a related note, since he's gone to LBC Marr has shown himself to be very much Mr Tory. Something of a departure from his earlier years

I genuinely think the beeb should have stuck with Sophie Raworth for that show. She isn't a Beth Rigby hard hitter, but was competent. Not sure how Laura K will be.
