Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

This is the bit on Covid from his letter

We also need to learn to live with Covid and I know that is your instinct too. You took a
brave decision in July, against considerable opposition, to open up the country again.
Sadly it did not prove to be irreversible, as I wished, and believe you did too. I hope we
can get back on track soon and not be tempted by the kind of coercive measures we have
seen elsewhere.

The BBC article you've linked to just reports the direction of travel post Brexit and Covid measures as being the reasons for his resignation. They both have equal prominence in his letter.

This is the key part re direction of travel

a lightly regulated, low-
tax, entrepreneurial economy

Translation: no workers rights or environmental standards, smallest govt possible, threadbare public services and no safety net of welfare state

That's what Brexit has always been about for them, you can't implement what they want whilst being a member. My original post was making the point that it's not electorally appealing, and that presents a problem for them as idealocially that's where most of their MP's are after their great Brexit purge - any leader who tries to go against it will invariably end up in the position Johnson is in now.

As Tredman said the sad thing is that they'll pull the country down with them pursuing their extreme right wing fantasies.

Some superb work by the bloke in the hat on Newsnight just now.

Bridgen called the bloke a village idiot and the man with the poster replied “the village idiot is talking to the camera”

In fairness to Bridgen it’s the first time he’s ever been close to making sense with his assessment of the PM.
Peter Bone seems to be the MP for delusionborough rather than Wellingborough as according to him, all of his constituents are backing the PM except the Labour voters who hated him anyway.

The most pertinent interview for Sue Gray has to be Cummings and I don't think she's speaking to him at all.

It certainly explains why they defended the indefensible when he went for his drive

Cummings disproves the old adage that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. He was part of that culture and kept quiet about it because it suited his purpose, lied when it suited his purpose and his motives now are entirely self-centred.

Doesn't this prove the old adage true?

A fair chunk of people are happy Cummings is doing this and still abhor the man.

I think everyone abhors him now. Boris supporters certainly will do now and it almost goes without saying that if you dislike Boris and want him to go you also abhor Cummings.

I can't think of any of my friends I abhor, maybe you have a different type of relationship with your friends.

sunak walks out of an interview when asked to support johnson.
also fails to suport johnson really, merely refers journalists to what johnson has said, rather than saying anything himself.

So if we now get the Cummings email warning him and a nice reply from Boris telling him to do one, that’s deliberately misleading parliament and he is rather trapped.

He's already said that he was informed that there were no parties. Now there is evidence that there were parties (and he was at one of them buy hey ho), he has misled Parliament but because he didn't know that these events were parties, his defence will be that be he didn't knowingly do so.

Cummings is either allowing the drip drip of allegations to continue to have the maximum embarrassment to the PM over a period of time and thus keep people interested in paying for his babbling or he hasn't quite got the hammer to put the nail in Johnsons political coffin.
