Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

I'm not going to question your area of expertise, I don't doubt the info you've posted is correct but I have spent half of my working like over the last year or so explaining to national retailers why their stock is delayed. Most of those factors have been before the stock reaches the UK going from Covid outbreaks in China in both factories and ports, componentry shortages, lack of containers, shipping lines cancelling sailings or prioritising those that will pay most, Suez delays and vessels being rerouted to other ports prior to coming to the UK, because of how long it takes to dock here.

All that said in the last few months issues post getting to the UK have become more prevalent, some of that is Covid related - large numbers of staff self isolating either at port, our warehouse or that of the DC's, driver shortages in general - which is part Brexit and part people not taking tests over the last 18 months, but drivers running out of hours and therefore missing slots is definitely on the rise.

Mate, I wasn't arguing with what you were saying it was all correct, I was saying you cannot extend a drivers daily work spread anymore, it is reckless at best and i can guarantee it will lead to a catastrophe.

It's not going to help the shortage either, be a lot more drivers saying stuff this, I'm not being worked till I drop.first major accident that occurs due to longer hours the driver will get blamed (as always) work will be saying " we told him not to drive, but he ignored us"

I'd have thought a better idea would be to improve drivers working conditions/pay to attract more employees.....same goes for retail, hospitality, care and other low paid jobs......obviously that would mean the rest of us paying a bit more for all our shit which of course is out of the question

There are some well paying jobs out there ( my drivers were all well paid and well looked after, but I was the best boss ever :) )
The issue is there's a major shortage of drivers out there and the ones who are left can only do so much in the time they have available, their hours are dictated to 6 hourly, daily, weekly, fortnightly and over six months, you can do a bit extra here and there but you have to compensate for it within a set time period.

Knowing the haulage industry Paul - are international goods drivers exempt from quarantine, or do you have to swap units with a British based driver at the border and go straight back?

I’m intrigued as we had an urgent order due in from Croatia. Rib formers for our concrete panels. It took days longer than it used to.

Good question, never thought about it , they must be exempt, but I'm going to find out on Monday !

Majority of the hold ups are customs based, I used to able to load a lorry to Rotterdam one afternoon and it be there the next morning , it now takes nearly a week, I know its not de rigueur to say but UK customs are coping a lot better than some European ones and the groupage lads (one trailer multiple consignments) are suffering particularly badly from it

Drivers of goods vehicles

Before travel to England

Before you travel to the UK, you need to complete the passenger locator form. You will need to enter details of your passport, or other travel document. When you travel, make sure you are using the same passport or travel document that you entered on the passenger locator form.

You do not need to take a COVID-19 test before you travel to the UK.

After arrival in England

Green or amber list countries

Applies if you been in or through a green or amber list country, but not a red list country, in the 10 days before you arrive in England.

You must isolate away from other people in your cab during the time you are in England.

If you are a UK resident, you can quarantine at home for 10 days while not working.

You are still required to continue to test during this time.

If you are staying in England longer than 2 days you will need to take a test on or before day 2, between days 3 and 5 and between days 6 and 8.

You do not need to book COVID-19 tests before arrival in England.

If you are travelling every day, you must take a lateral flow test at least once every 3 days.

Red list countries

Applies if you have been in a red list country (except Turkey) in the 10 days before you arrive in England.

You need to quarantine in a government approved hotel and take a COVID-19 test on day 2 and day 8.

Turkey only

Drivers who have been in or through Turkey in the 10 days before arrival in the UK do not need to quarantine in a hotel. If you are staying in the UK longer than 2 days you will need to take a test on or before day 2, between days 3 and 5 and between days 6 and 8.

If you are travelling every day, you must take a lateral flow test at least once every 3 days. You must also follow the stay-in-cab guidance in the UK.

Evidence

You will need to show that your travel is part of your job, for example a letter from your employer, a consignment note or your operator’s licence.

Applies to:

Drivers of goods vehicles and other employees of community licence holders for the international carriage of goods.

Thanks Kenny. We have a lot of trucks coming in from Turkey as a lot of our bracketry is made there. Interesting.

We send a lot of stuff out to Turkey and they are one of the last countries that are adamant that documents are physically stamped and signed, it's like dealing with the East all over again :)

Bringing it in from there is obviously fun though.

Anyway back to the twat. I assume he is attending tomorrow. Probably will have Priti Vacant there too. Hoping to bask in the teams glory if they win. Berlin 1936 springs to mind.

There was an article in the guardian earlier this week about the open letter Gareth Southgate wrote before the euros, it basically spanners the government claiming credit or or basking in the glory if we win, an unnamed source was quoted as saying " Boris is furious that the government comes out badly in this"
Even if we don't win, Marcus Rashford 2 conservative government 0 must be a good result.

England could win the universe cup and Boris would beat that by competing in the grand final of the cunt of the universe cup. Nobody tell him he loses to Priti Vacant.

Yep, great 2 footed challenge followed by his trademark stamp
