As a qualified transport manager ( I have certificates and things, I know 😮) this is ludicrous, it is the exact opposite of a good idea, but at least Brexit stops those pesky foreigners taking our jobs.....................Oh !
 
There is a bit more depth behind the headline. One of the issues is port congestion and then DC congestion driven by staff shortages due to Covid. Therefore drivers are spending more time in their cabs than usual sat in queues, meaning they are having to pull out (phnarr) without dropping. So it's not so much an increase in driving time in the traditional sense, although not having done the job I don't know how tiring sitting around doing nothing is in that context.
 
Well that doesn't make sense either, up till now the driver cannot have a working day of more than 15 hours for, at the most, three times between weekly rest periods. When a driver is on a full daily rest period of 11 hours the maximum working day is 13 hours. Surely they cannot be extending that spread of hours ??

I apologise if any of the above is wrong I've been out of the game for 18 months
