Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

The enquiry into the Tory MP who was being investigated for rape has been dropped. Given who it is he'll be everywhere again given what day it is

So it would appear that schools will return later in January than what the term dates are.

If this is the case why are they taking legal actions against schools now for closing early for valid reasons? I can only presume that if it is somebody else's idea it is a bad one but then a good idea if its tweaked and spun as the government's plan.

The term finishes tomorrow so it might be a good idea to give the public some notice. Mind you if a free trade/no deal agreement with the EU is anything to go by.......

Mass testing in schools is being implemented from January in Secondary schools and there needs to be training, testing facilities created, permission from parents - all before it can be started and the only time this can be set up will be in the first week of January, fairly sure this will be the reason given rather than the reasons some local authorities wanted to close schools before Christmas,

How has this been managed in the London areas where mass testing was announced last week?

They used mobile testing units in London and the army in Liverpool. Nationwide, it seems it will be staff, parents and volunteers. What could possibly go wrong?

Really pleased that I retired as this would have landed on my desk to sort out just when you though that you might get a couple of weeks after what I am sure has been a very difficult year.

Doesn't sound like any discussions have taken place with schools so just announce it so the Gov't looks as if it's doing something, but leave the implementation to others.

Would be surprised if all have testing kits when they need them anyway.

Schools are expected to solve all life's problems so why would a pandemic be any different?

100% they won't get enough kits.

Listening to you two you realise that working in a school is not a vocation is it, it's just a job

For teachers no, it's part of the reason I got out - it becomes all encompassing and literally defines the existence of a lot of teachers. Who'd have thought have 30 kids hanging off your every word all day would create a God complex..

Mass testing is a joke. You are void until the next time you socialise. Schools are there to educate and given the literacy and numeracy stats in the UK they are failing badly. Close them, put the children at risk because the parent's cannot go to work to earn money. Then guess the exam results and filter UNI places on social class. EASY.

Bring on the Great Re-Set

You'll own nothing and be HAPPY ( Or bulletproof).

You've been banging on about this re-set for a long time now. Whens it gonna happen?
The GFC over 10 years ago didn't cause a re-set, it enhanced inequality.
If you think covid will cause a re-set, you're looking in the wrong places!

It's happening. The age of consumption is going and we are entering the new age ( Fourth Industrial revolution)
The middle classes and aspiration (based on consumption) will disappear.
Even the future King Charles espouses it's virtues. Life will never be the same.

Own nothing and be HAPPY.

Klaus Schwab is a genius.

So is this the dawning of the age of Aquarius?
Or are we following the biblical teachings of Lennon 40-80 and his vision of imagine no possessions? (Written in his big fucking house while owning a rolls Royce)

Not a good look from Starmer to make political capital out of it. Could have just said that he supports the measures, welcomed the prime ministers change of heart and appealed to the nation to adhere to the rules.
Let others state that he mentioned it three days ago.

Well he was told he was inhuman by Boris so he has every right to point this out

He is right to say what has been announced today should have been done so 2 weeks ago instead of telling people who said so they just wanted to cancel Christmas and make criminals of those who want to celebrate with friends/family.

He has only said he is frustrated that his call that was attacked by the populist imbecile has now suddenly become a good idea. I don’t think that is political capital. It’s common sense.

Would say this is a fair response

"We support the steps the government has put in place.

But millions of families across the country are going to be heartbroken by this news, having their Christmas plans ripped up.

I'm really frustrated, because I raised this with the prime minister on Wednesday and he dismissed that and went on to tell people to have a merry little Christmas, only three days later to rip up their plans.

I think the British public is entitled to more decisive leadership than that. They're getting confusion where they need certainty."
