I'm guessing that you haven't tried Verdant yet?In the whole of Cornwall? Dull week that will be
Paul that is my dream. You can keep your usual/norm destinations, for me Japan is my all time holidayHas anyone ever been to Japan, that's my latest thing, but my only knowledge is from Youtube videos ?
The mother in law has come up trumps again too and is taking us on a cruise to Spain & Portugal in August which I am VERY excited about. Cruises are ace. I manage to fit a whole months worth of eating into one week One of the stops is Porto, so I'll have to make sure I have some sort of Wolves top on that day!
Myself and my missus are going on our first Cruise ever in 2 weeks, 5 nights around the Bahamas. Cannot wait! I've just spent this morning checking out all the different menu's in all the different restaurants, its a Royal Caribbean cruise so theres 3 restaurants, a Johnny Rockets diner, a self service buffet and a pizza place. Plus Starbucks and Ben & Jerry's outlets.
I'm glad we did our research, as we looked at the prices of drinks ($10 for a glass of wine, $7 for a beer, $13 for a cocktail) and decided to get an Unlimited drinks voucher for $250 each, which should save us a fortune overall.
An one of the islands we stop off at is owned by Royal Caribbean, so drinks on the island are covered too!
Might upgrade our room though, as it's an inward facing cabin on the lower decks, would prefer a room with a view. Not sure about cost though.
Wouldn't worry about the room personally.
We went on a cruise last year and paid a bit extra for an outside cabin but it was pointless in hindsight, the only time there was really much of a view was when you were in port somewhere so we weren't on the boat then anyway, it's just a place to sleep and it's not even like there's anywhere to sit in the cabin and enjoy the view.

True. I was thinking of a room with a bit of balcony outside with chairs. But thats probably gonna cost another $1000
I'm the opposite to Mark - if you can afford to upgrade to an outside view, I'd recommend it. I really enjoyed watching the boat sail into the port in the mornings, especially as we were in the fjords on the last cruise. We were always up early though (as we have kids) so I guess if you don't get up until after the ship has docked then it's a bit different. Plus, I've never actually had to pay for the room myself so have no idea in the difference in price.
The food on cruises is amazing btw. Some mornings I went for a 2nd go at the breakfast buffet at around 11am just because I could!
We didn't get up early enough to see us dock once, most of the sailing was through fairly open water too so wasn't really anything to see apart from two shades of blue separated by a straight line, think when we left Mahon was the only interesting view we had, seemed like quite a long channel coming out of port back to open water.
It depends what you're likely to be doing, there were plenty of people on ours that never left the boat so having your own private space would be useful if that's your approach, got pretty cramped up on the top deck around the pool with people sunbathing. We got off at every destination though so barely spent anytime time on board in the day, usually got back not long before setting sail and could have a peak out the window as we left port then we'd be getting ready to go to dinner and spend the rest of the night around the ship.
