I'm dying.

Cheers Jake, Merry Christmas to you too. You square faced cunt.

As you shouldn't pick up on others mistakes, I'll let it slide that it should be the mistakes of others and positive should be preceded by a not an.

I've never got the whole "live every day as it's your last" thing. If I'm dying tomorrow, then the fuck am I going to go to work, I'd probably go on an almighty bender. If I did that every day, then I soon would be dead...

Aluko pre-match tonight:

If City win it goes to 5pts from Arsenal, if Leeds win it goes to 11

Do the MATH!!!

Before anyone says “ don’t listen to talkSPORT” it was on in my dads kitchen.
Gabby Agbonlahor the bloke is cartoon, regards to Emi Martinez. Gives a pep talk about how he should show some class towards Mbappe.
Next sentence he won’t leave Aston Villa for European football because Villa have got ambitious owners.
Jack Grealish was just a “one off” apparently.
Seriously what planet are you on player A wants a move it’s pretty hard to stop.
Plus you’ve just pointed out that he’s behaved with no morals.
He is the absolute microcosm of the arrogance that exists at 1982FC. Self entitlement is through the roof.

Correct her then. We aren’t in the states here
Slippy slope correcting grammar (and possibly punctuation) on here Paddy!
My personal hated favourite is, "Bored of...."
Jesus! I think when I was a mod there was either a whole string or just a thread devoted to people correcting this sort of stuff. So it was a long time ago, but the practice was roundly binned, as long as you can tell what they're getting at.
And I think it was from that, the 'Fnarr' thread evolved.

The Americanism of “math” is a particular pet hate of mine.
And then some smart arse will post, You mean either "The Americanism 'math' ..." or "The Americanisation of 'maths' to 'math' ...". The problem is that most people either write as they speak, which is rarely grammatically correct unless you're a complete twat, or attempt unsuccessfully to recall and apply rules of grammar they haven't used since they were at school. I abhor the way in which the King's English is becoming bastardised by YouTube and Netflix, with even grown men now talking about 'bus rowtes' and 'candy bars'. As a copy-editor, I'd be well placed to be TWF's grammar Obergruppenführer but, sadly, correct English is the preserve of the ever-shrinking nerdy (to employ another absorbed Americanism) minority of which I am a member. Since we live in a democracy, I've decided to keep my own counsel and simply feel quietly superior.* I imagine your legal background makes you similarly picky discerning, Paddy, but I guess suppose, as WH implies, so long as a poster's meaning is clear, there's no need to worry too much about how it's communicated.

*Not entirely serious.

I'm not particularly well educated but have done okay in life and as a result I try and write as correctly as I can both at work and on forums like this. I realise this means I apply 'rules' of grammar that I think are correct [in my head] but probably don't even exist and drive people like Tom Hark mad.

I'm trying honestly! And would love be get it right as that's what I am aiming for. I also cringe at my inability to do anything abroad other than order a couple of beers, which in itself is embarrassing and ''two beers'' is more widely accepted than my pigeon attempts, especially if they reply in French/Spanish/German and I just have to shrug and apologise for being English.
Education at a young age is so important as my attempts to better myself and my learning as I've got older are so much harder.
