Well that's a bit of a shock!
He's the cornerstone of the BBC.
Stalwart, Anything big and Huw gets to deliver it..... Wow!

I don't see how it's anyone's business but his and his family's.

- No-one involved was underage
- Nothing illegal has taken place
- It seems to have no bearing on his work

And now a man is completely broken because shite papers want a story. So who wins, exactly.

Pretty sure everyone knew that anyone, apart from WH it seems.
No, I had no clue at all over here.
We're full of Ryan fucking Tubridy lauding himself for taking a €40,000 year paycut but going to the top of RTE telling them to put it into a brown envelope along with another 30,000 to ease the pain....

What clues did you have?
I only yesterday saw Jeremy Vine imploring whoever it was to "...come clean and reveal yourself, look at the damage you're causing..."

Pushing 33 years ago. Printed with his comments because they were going to publish it anyway. Dead less than 8 years later.

We haven't moved very far in some respects, have we.

Jeremy Vine can get to fuck with his shit tv TalkSport style show.
Never seen it.
Wow! Heart goes out to his family. What a terrible situation for them to find themselves in.
He's in some place where he'll get the care he needs and he'll be in there for a while.
What a mess.

"British soccer is PACKED with gays" is truly something else to see printed.

People take this paper seriously?

Is it so desperately shocking that someone might look at pornography?
It's a bit more than looking at porn Alan
The 'young person's' mother would have us think that her son was on drugs, was trying to get clean and Edward's money kept him there and made it worse.

Plenty do, sadly.

The needle on homosexuality has moved a fair bit since 1990 in the UK to be fair but that element of the press haven't really.

Realized after your other post that I'd misread the context a bit. Apologies.

Still, seems a strange argument. More money does mean more access to drugs, but it also means more access to help. And less money brings its own set of problems.

Obviously I'm not in the loop on this in the same way y'all are, but unless Edwards was pressuring the creator to use the OF income on drugs (which... why?), I don't see the crime here. At least not on Edwards' part.

Sex work is still work; what the proprietor does with the money brought in on that is hardly the fault of their customers.

The Fucking Sun.
When my lovely Dad died (in Ireland) his ashes were sent to the crematorium in Hale Barns, people came from far and wide for his funeral.
My Dad's ashes didn't arrive in time. (A bit of dark humour which my Dad would have kind of enjoyed)
The Sun found out and thought it was a great story and printed it on the front page with a stock photo of an urn opposite a photo of a young girl with HUGE tits. Her breasts coming across the page above the urn with a headline LOST IN THE POST!
They phoned me at 0115 that morning to ask permission to print the story.
I said 'No you fucking can't! It's very upsetting!'
"Well, we're gonna print it anyway. Oh and The Star are running with it too...."
Tasteless cunts all of them.

Correct. Neither do the Police. That was their statement.
So, all this fuss and damage, corporate and personal, over something that should have been private.
It's not right, but it'll never get fixed. Never.
The British public read this shit and love it.
I don't know Alan if you have an equivalent 'newspaper' over there, but come election time the Sun will have a big editorial panel lined out 'THE SUN SAYS...' and mindless knuckle draggers would read that and then they'd have an opinion in the canteen or on the factory floor and their mates would listen and think, 'Frank seems to know what he's talking about.... It's fucking gruesome!
