Semedo/Jonny-Moutinho-Donck-Cundle-RAN

----------------Fabio-------Neto--------

If Semedo is fit again, I'd share the rh side between him and Jonny, to ease Nelson back in, rather than having to play a full 90.
Jonny has been superb (aside from 20 mins from his first game) since his return.
Harsh on Trincao, who was great v Leeds in the 1st half. Be looking to bring him on for Neto in the 2nd half methinks.
Hwang can get to fuck based on his recent performances.

Don't mind which 2 from 3 of our WBs play tbh, although if fit it would probably be Semedo and Jonny for me. RAN has a bright future but is still quite inconsistent.

He invariably turns back because there is no one up with him ! Jimenez has hardly bust a gut to get in the box this season, Podence has zero presence in there and Hwang/Trincao don't really want to get involved in there either. Neto should make a difference on that score, when back in the side.
Semedo and Jonny for me for this one. Fabio would definitely be playing too.

Semedo seems to have developed a bit of a cult.

He had a slow start here and was one of our [cyber] Marquee Signings [Cyber], which meant he got a lot of flack. Now there are some people who think he is still garbage, he isn’t, but it’s created this cult now where people seem to have to overate him the other way to compensate (not saying this is anyone on here, but the fan base In general).

He has become defensively solid for sure, and you never think he’s going to get done whereas before he was a walking penalty/mistake. But despite Jonny’s inferior physical traits, he’s already been far superior in an attacking sense from his movement, use of the ball and intelligence. The right hand side actually looks like a an avenue for goal recently which it hadn’t really for the rest of the season.

Back 3 as stated of Boly - Coady - Kilman

Jonny/Semedo/RAN at Wb (well 2 from 3 as I suspect that we are not allowed to have them all on at once) - don't mind who.

Given that Neves is out then probably need 3 in midfield - realistically only leaves Donck/Moutinho & Cundle

Fabio to play up front - only competition is Hwang and thats not really an answer - with Neto if fit, if not Podence is a better option than Trincao who has not shown enough & not sure that he will be here next season.

Helps when the last few games who we’ve played though - especially Watford. Very small pool of games to make that assessment on IMO.

Not taking anything away from Jonny. Personally think our 3 main wing backs are much of a muchness and happy for any 2 of the 3 to play

I'd settle for a point now. Villa are the bookies favourites despite being away from home and 10 points behind us in the league.

My assessment has been more on Semedo’s ineffectiveness going forward over nearly 2 seasons than what Jonny has done in a short space of time, although even after nearly two years out and never really consider an attacking option by us fans in our time he looks like hen offers more in the role already.

To be fair we haven’t been thrilling going forward since semedo signed, due to a number of factors m. Not all on him.

Just don’t by into the narrative that Jonny is far better going forward that you’re saying. Based on previously he’s never been known for it, factored in looking good going forward against Watford (who arguably put in one of the worse performances I’ve seen at this level) and Leeds who’s style is absolute bonkers, abs a couple other games.

Semedo is shit going forward, ive been saying it for ages, this is not news.

Jonny was playing on the left. Hard to do be effective on your weaker side. Now he’s actually playing on his favoured side he’s even better and it’s actually unleashed his ability.

Semedo has also played rubbish teams and offered nothing in an attacking sense. Jonny’s positioning. Intelligence and use of the ball has been far better in these limited games. It was also good when he was in the team before, he just had a more disciplined role, on the wrong side, In a counter attacking team.

He’s most definitely not shit going forward, and he’s not played the shit teams when we’ve been an attacking threat like we were over the last few games (in comparative purposes to what we were earlier in season averaging less than a goal a game)

You could be proven right, I’m not willing to
Jump on this bandwagon after a handful of games.

No point arguing over it really as your entrenched in your view that he’s Cafu. Obviously part of the cult! 😀

He has no stand out qualities in the attacking third. I struggle how anyone thinks otherwise.

My twopennorth on the wb/fb situation, we are quite lucky, the 3 are all pretty good
However Jonny is head and shoulders above the other two.
Not quite as athletic as Semedo but a better defender and at least as good going forward, maybe better. A better defender than RAN by quite a margin and again at least as good as him going forward. RAN potentially has a higher ceiling than Jonny and Semedo but whether he achieves that remains to be seen.
I'll have no truck with opposition to these statements, anyone disagreeing is just plain wrong, Jonny is king, simple as.

Jonny is the worst going forwards of the three.

Semedo carries the ball forward and overlaps.
RAN can dribble and also overlaps.
Jonny makes more steady positional progress but is good on the ball and is a clever player.

None of them cross particularly well.
