These are gonna be two chastening defeats, I know we've played the best two sides but gulf in class is huge. Even if we get out our group these defeats highlight how bad we really are.
Serious questions need asking of the ECB and how they prepare. I'm sorry Peter Moores is not the man for England he was awful last time and is proving it again.
It still seems like the ECB don't take white ball cricket to seriously and schedule international to allow English players to play in the IPL, Big Bash or CPL.
Supine I'd say. NZ and Southee in particular have been great but Root apart we've just rolled over.
Moores has to go, he is unequivocally not good enough for this level. I could not fathom why we re-appointed him, the results are no better this time than they were last.
Last 7 wickets go down for 19 runs. Humiliating. England really need to work out what their plan is in one-day cricket as I for sure don't understand what it is.
Moeen Ali is not an international opener. Ballance has done nothing in ODI's, Taylor is being messed around, bats well all winter at 3 then gets bumped to 6 come the WC. Morgan is horrifically out of form and needs to be out of the side but the ECB will never lose face by getting rid of him so soon after Cook's departure. Buttler is our only power hitter, you look down the other top sides at this WC and they 2/3/4 power hitters who can dramatically up run rates and turn momentum in a game. We have "plodders" for want of a better word, who will do ok against minnows and India outside of India but get shown up by bowlers who know how to bowl against us.
19 runs for 7 wickets in that collapse, right from the start of the innings we looked so defensive. As most commentators have said English players are bought up on swing bowling so they should have dealt better with it far better.
We've tinkered to much with batting line up, Ballance bats at 5 for Yorkshire and we decide to put him in at 3, absolute bonkers.
Love the way New Zealand destroy us with full deliveries and Yorkers, so intern Stuart Broad bowls with width, another player way out of form.
Glad to see Plan A of bowling short without a field for it back in force. Do these bowlers not look at other teams and what they do or are they that arrogant that the way they want to bowl is correct.
I think they've given up and so has Morgan, you can except losing but this is like being beaten 10-0 in football.
We're gonna have two defeats one by 111 runs and probably one by 10 wickets.
Psychologically England's players will be destroyed by this.
It's just bizarre decision making from Morgan. They've just said on commentary that Southee had the ball hooping round corners from one end and we open with Anderson at the opposite end. Makes no sense. Extremely poor captaincy.
I think if we fail to get out this group I expect to see some heads role.
We are moving backwards as cricket nation under the current ECB setup and Moores as coach, we are being plunged back to the dark days of the 90's. I expect our one day form to start filtering into our test form, forget the ashes in the summer no chance whatsoever.
Agreed I'd like to see Downton resign to a clueless dinosaur who doesn't move with the times and described Peter Moores as the "coach of his generation" last year.
Also think David Saker needs to go as bowling coach to. How come England can't bowl full deliveries or Yorkers anymore.
