Yackity Yack, Let's Talk Zack

It is because the caricature has big ears and a hook nose, which were the tropes of anti-semitic cartoon portrayal of Jews from Punch magazine in Victorian times to Nazi propaganda during later times.

The problem is Polanski has a hook nose and big ears, so any caricature of him is likely to accentuate those same points, in the same way the Times cartoon accentuates his bad dentistry.

So I personally think Owen Jones is way off beam on this one. Which will come as no surprise I am sure.

Exactly, if it were Rachel Riley they'd portrayed like that for example then it would be correctly called out for being antisemitic.

He doesn't have big ears.
He doesn't have a hook nose.
He doesn't have a monobrow.
He does have weird teeth.

I'd have loved to have seen the reactions if Corbyn had posted this.

The policemen in the cartoon have big ears and the same eyebrows too.

People are going to see what they want to see. I looked at the cartoon and instantly recognised it as Polanski, not because it was an anti-Semitic portrayal but because it looks like him. I guess if you want to go into fine detail you will see exaggerated “Jewish” traits but given he’s Jewis that’s no particularly surprising.
