Wolves v West Ham - Tue 1st April 7:45pm: Build Up & Match Thread

I said I wouldn't play Cunha but the points made are fair that there's not really any good alternatives so he probably does play. Guedes, Forbs and Sarabia won't be here either, Hwang isn't very good so it doesn't leave a lot left.

I do still believe the general point holds elsewhere though, for example if Semedo leaves can Lima play to an adequate level or does he need more development? Same with Rodrigo Gomes and in his case is he definitely going to play wing back moving forward or can he play in one of the attacking positions in this system? They're questions that we may have the chance to answer in games where there's not the pressure there of a potential relegation. If you're not going to try a few things once it's done, when are you?

Vitor also rates Mane highly and says he wants to give him games with the first team at some point. I have no idea how good he is or if he's anywhere near ready but seems to be highly rated at the club anyway.

I do understand the thinking, but you have to apply it across the board (if you're leaving out your best player because he 99% won't be here next season then that has to stand for EVERYONE who either will go or we'd like to go) so it would mean some pretty strange teams being sent out.

I don't think we have the solutions in the squad to solve all of the potential outgoings, you're going to need to bring in multiple players who'll go straight into contention, so it doesn't seem worth it to me.

Just found him on the website, 17, I’d love us to have a striker come through.

*Proudlock was good enough for where we were but was a fucking idiot when he was young. Mulligan is only there because I never tire of seeing his appalling haircut

What was the team in Green?

Malcolm Shotton is the centre half who played donkeys years at Oxford.

Edit and played for Hull

Whilst we have the possibility of gaining league positions we should go for it. The extra prize money dwarfs any increase in revenue from ticket hikes

I agree with your points about playing him - I don’t think it’s about players that won’t be here next season - more about the way he’s behaved (on and off the pitch). I knew Neves and Moutinho were going and felt completely different.

This latest bit in the Guardian, for example, is badly timed and in bad taste.
Yes Matheus, we get it, you want to leave.
Obviously putting himself in the shop window again……because he can’t on the pitch for another two games.

Always said, what a player. And, if I’m at the game paying money, I wanna watch Cunha. And I want him to be great and score for fun.

But I don’t rate his behaviour and I don’t like the way he’s gone about leaving. That’s it.

I'm somewhere between your take and the ultra defenders. I do think he bullied the club into a new contract, I do think there was a real chance of him dialing it in for the rest of the season. I was at Chelsea, I know what I saw, but he has said today he's been quoted out of context which has happened ever since the PL started signing none Brits. No need to do that if he wasn't bothered

Only reason not to play him is if a deal with another club is 100% agreed though I doubt that’s even possible. Who’s going to sign him without being certain he’s fit and he could get injured in other ways. In fact I’ve convinced myself he should play!

Every position gets us extra money so it's not even a question of playing him or not.

We aren't finishing above 17th.
I'm with Deano I'd play Cunha but I'd be looking at Djiga, Lima and Gomes, not in the same game necessarily, but you could sprinkle them in. Unfortunately there's nobody else worth looking at, Mane maybe in a last game of the season Shaun Bradbury way

If we beat west ham we have a chance of catching them. 5 points over 8 games feels possible

Things would have to really go our way and we'd need to get a surprise result in there, but they aren't completely uncatchable. Unless they beat us tomorrow.
