We could rest most the starting 11 for City and still put a strong team out for this. Half the players need minutes.
It’s been said already but Ruddy, Vinagre, Buur, Kilman, Sanderson, Neves, Vitinha, Silva, Jota is a very strong team which should see of Stoke with ease, rotates the squad and gets players minutes who can then go again next week against Gillingham.
No issue with Coady being the other CB, he won’t have to do much and the other forward position can be shared between Podence and Neto. One play 60 the other 30.
Talk of playing the U23s is stupid. We can make the QF probably without having to even try and play a strong team. Then depending on the draw, how we’re doing in the league and our schedule/fitness we can decide whether to take it serious.
One legged semi and with the “big 6” having mental schedules with Europe you won’t get an easier chance to win something regardless of the prize being a bit shit. Trophy is a trophy.
