We've totally stopped playing Otasowie at the back, seems we see him purely as a midfielder now.

Just Neves for Joao for me. Last chance saloon for not so deadly Donck.
I meant same team as Cyber, but with Otasowie in CM.

Ah right. I'm not against the idea, the lad's got talent, big ask though.

Can someone correct the typo in the thread title please, it's annoying me more than it should.

I imagine it's difficult for Nuno when every game is so tight and attritional, but I'd like to see the Hoever's, Vitinha's and Otasowie's in the squad get some time on the pitch to see what they can do sometime soon. Not necessarily starting, but it's difficult gauging who is likely to make an impact when you have little or nothing to go on

Pretty sure that starting Hoever, Vitinha or Otasowie in this game is not the best opportunity for them, it won't be an easy game - Neves for Moutinho & if Dendoncker starts then he needs to get his act together - gets in the right position, but needs to finish more of these off otherwise I am not sure that he is helping.

Wouldn't object to Boly or Kilman back in and Saiss in midfield if we play a 4 at the back.

Wouldn't be unhappy with a point from this

When is the best time then as in a game against say Burnley people will be saying it's a game we really need to look at winning so it's not the best game for them to be thrown in. So there is never a "good time" really.

Point accepted - though names were being thrown about in numbers - wouldn't have an issue if 1 of those were included (whether to start or actually comes on off the bench) in this one.

They are young & inexperienced & don't think that you can throw all in against what is still a very good PL side.

If you're referring to my post I didn't mean all at once! :)
Just like to see them at some point, not necessarily against Chelsea, probably individually and from the bench

Don't think that it was just your post - Vitanha is the one I would consider is more ready

Patricio

Semedo--Boly--Coady--Marcal

Neves--Saiss

Podence--Vitinha--Neto

Silva
That's how I would line up. Donk is out of form, and Adama isn't offering anything. I don't seeing us picking up anything tomorrow so give Vitinha a go and see what he's got

This is the team I would go for. Or Nuno could choose to pick Hoever instead of Semedo. I think his moment of panic on Saturday came from the memory of being done by Alphonso Davies. It must have seemed similar to him in that moment and he panicked to get goal side of McGinn when Neves was there to cut him off. But it wasn't similar because Davies is a flyer but McGinn is not. I put his accidental crashing into the back of McGinn down to a momentary bit of panic which then went horribly awry. I think he needs Nuno's arm around his shoulder a bit.

On another note, it's already been noted that Dendoncker is playing the role of box-to-box, which has never been his specialty. But in all my 70 plus years of being involved with soccer, I've always acted on the premise (with a lot of others) that it's creating chances that counts and the goals will come. While I'm the first to admit that Donck has not been playing well and that I am personally disappointed that he has not scored in recent games, he nevertheless has got his efforts on target. Let's remember that he hasn't been skying the chances up into the stands! The guy's effort in a different and exacting role cannot be denied.

The goalscoring positions he's getting into is excellent......just pleases score a couple

Seems to me that he is always surprised that he finds himself there so the shot is not the most difficult to save - the ones against Villa if they were at the corner of the goal would have evaded Martinez

Think with Dendoncker it's a lack of conviction as much as anything, seems like he goes for a safe option more so than something that could be more threatening.

That chance on Sunday being case in point, bursts into it centre of the box and goes for the side foot volley which ends up not far enough wide of the keeper to really worry him. Think a more natural goalscorer goes at that with their laces, more chance or them skying it or slicing it but at the same time you catch a rocket on target it's going to be very difficult to stop from there. It's a risk/reward thing sometimes you have to be a bit more ambitious and not worry about wasting it, steady efforts on target might look good for the stats but they don't tend to trouble the scoresheet too often.

It's weird that Mountiho doesn't seem to have the same freedom to attack the box in that way, he certainly covers enough ground elsewhere to suggest he could. Neves just isn't that player to get up there and his shooting has hardly been stellar of late anyway. So you have to settle for the least suited player being the one to attack those positions.

Donk just doesn’t have the technique for the role we’re asking him to play - he’s not a good finisher, he can’t play with his back to goal, he can’t play an incisive pass and he can’t cushion a ball for a team mate to hit.

that’s not his fault, Coady wouldn’t be able to do it either, it’s just that we’re not asking him to. If we want someone to play that role, we should buy someone who can do it properly.

The thing is the bloke is obviously a defensive midfielder, everyone mocked Cyber for saying to play him further forward but now we're criticizing Leander for not being able to do what we thought was silly to suggest he should do.............................I think

I don't feel the slightest bit confident we can get even a draw in this, I have a feeling it'll be more like the Liverpool game than the Arsenal one.

Always feel like that mate, then the worst that can happen is the result meets your expectation, anything else is a bonus :)

I don't think most are criticising him for it, they just accept its not his strength, unfortunately we don't have a player for that position,
Anyway I'm backing him to get one tomorrow.......only problem with that is I'm rubbish at predictions
