Wolves - Norwich Match Thread

Especially annoying points to drop as we’ll do well to go to Fulham and win on Saturday without Neves now. I’d like to see Leo back up top.

Taking off Costa & Cav was a bad move. In hindsight it's easy but bringing on Saiss with Neves already on a yellow was risky beyond belief. We looked fine the way we were, no need to change anything. It's fine inviting pressure and playing on the counter but only MGW looked threatening

Watching the game it was nothing more than they deserved really dissapointing to lose 2 points when at half time we had the game won

You'd have thought us playing 12 would've had us winning...

To your other point, Afobe was fucking rancid. Doesn't fit the system and just not good enough on the ball. Get Leo back.

MGW was exactly what you’d expect a talented young footballer to be - fearless and skilful, but not quite there with his decision making and final pass. That’ll come over time, but he should have put the game to bed.

Ruddy though - I’m not going there because I don’t want to be seen to be criticising him - but he should have saved that and 30 seconds earlier he chose to hold on to the ball to waste time instead of hitting Jota when their keeper was still on the edge of our box. He needs to have a long hard look at himself tonight.

Overall though, we played some neat stuff but our formation was all over the shop and the players didn’t look like they knew what was going on.

Holding the ball was the right decision. We should have seen it out from there but we didn’t. I

Interesting Jinky, I thought that maybe Ruddy should have held onto the ball longer once he initially decided to hold onto the ball. He seemed To be then rushed into throwing it out when he could have let the defence get higher akd organised. I don’t think they would have had another chance if he’d done that. And he should definitely save the shot

There were a few handball shouts against Norwich I'd be interested to see again, especially the one against MGW

Rather disheartening after being 2 up but it's not illustrative of us as a team and just one of those nights. I imagine Nuno thought the win was in the bag and tried something different and it blew up in our faces. I won't read too much into it and let's wait and see how we respond.

That’s one way of looking at it - but it didn’t work. The other option was to get the ball down the other end of the pitch & letting Jota win a foot race with their tugboat centre half and rolling the ball in to an empty net.

We should have had the game won well before that anyway.

I thought MGW looked great when he came on. Ruddy was shit second half, needs dropping.

I agree with this. Hit the ball long into the corners for Afobe to chase and they don't get the chance to score. It's harsh on MGW but he should be booting the ball into the crowd for a throw when he's run it into the corner. They don't get the chance to move it up the pitch then either. He'll learn and he was brilliant when he came on. Catalogue of errors in the 2nd half but no need to press the panic button.

He’d already lost the foot race once. And it wasn’t there CBs anyway. Plus Ruddy needs to hit a blinder. Way too risky. Instead keep the ball for minute and the games won. We didn’t we lost it in the corner and were stretched when any break in play would have allowed us to regroup. And it’s a shot that doesn’t go in 999 out of 1000.

Yeah aside from some decision making in and around their penalty area it’s hard not to be excited by how talented MGW is. I love his positivity too.

I can't blame MGW for trying to keep it in the corner. It's what footballers do. They don't just boot it out when they're in possession.

It did surprise me that he didn't come on for Jota in the second half who looks totally knackered and got a bash on the knee. I thought Costa had a decent first half too.

They do with 20 seconds to go. Exactly what Preston did on Saturday.
