Can't even remember why I looked this morning for the 1974/75 div1 final tables, but Google took me to Wikipedia.
One of the facts was the highest league win.
In a total coincidence with today's fixture it was Wolves v Chelsea and it was at Molineux.
Apparently we did them 7-1.
I'd have been 11, but I can't remember it.
Chelsea relegated that year too.

Again, different times. Imagine a Championship club now signing players who'd appeared for England inside the last couple of years and were still theoretically in their prime (Thomas, Daley) or a first team player off the reigning Premier League champions (Atkins).

We were paying bigger than a lot of PL clubs across the board as the main financial factor was still the owner's wealth rather than TV money.

David Kelly earned a lot more when he moved to us than he would have if he stayed at Newcastle. Same with Kevin Keen and West Ham.

Back then we were still thought of as a sleeping giant, a big club, despite being out of the big league for a while. People still remembered the exploits of the 50s and how decent we were in the 70s. So it wasn't just the money. We were Wolves!
