Say what you like about him as a footballer, but you get a long way by just caring. And if not, the opposite applies, as we've seen this season. For all his faults, I fucking lived Elokobi
Charles 'Charlie' Charles?I cant not think of the Harry Emfield sketch when I see matches from this era.
One of the famous 'Charles' brothers!Charles 'Charlie' Charles?
Mad to think Sam Johnstone was used in the clipI cant not think of the Harry Enfield sketch when I see matches from this era.
Same.Still the best penalty i have ever seen (Pressman's not Waddle's...)
John McAlle had a goal disallowed too IIRC.I was there, Willie Carr scored on his debut, good times but nothing will surpass the Nuno era for me.
Back then we were still thought of as a sleeping giant, a big club, despite being out of the big league for a while. People still remembered the exploits of the 50s and how decent we were in the 70s. So it wasn't just the money. We were Wolves!Again, different times. Imagine a Championship club now signing players who'd appeared for England inside the last couple of years and were still theoretically in their prime (Thomas, Daley) or a first team player off the reigning Premier League champions (Atkins).
We were paying bigger than a lot of PL clubs across the board as the main financial factor was still the owner's wealth rather than TV money.
David Kelly earned a lot more when he moved to us than he would have if he stayed at Newcastle. Same with Kevin Keen and West Ham.
