Wolves lost 2-1 that day. I always went to The Abbey when Wolves came to town and we never seemed to get any joy. Wasn’t sure if the memory misery was distorted by going with United mates and being in the home areas or if it was actually that bad. Was normally sat in the Mainstand but the highlight though was definitely going mad in the home Newmarket Road end when Bully rattled in an equaliser after getting dogs abuse all game in about ‘92.
A quick google says 5 Abbey games, 2 losses, 3 draws, no wins.
Molineux games included = 4 losses, 4 draws, 2 wins.
Played each other regularly over a 10 season period, last league meeting now 32 years ago when the Clubs took opposite trajectories with the over-achieving John Beck leaving CU and the club falling into eventual administration, and Sir Jack pulling us out of the mire.
Lots of water under the bridge since then but seems like yesterday.
