He was probably slightly less handsome then, too
I have posted pictures of him as a player in match threads against some of his former club's like Shrewsbury, Villa and Palace and each time it has struck me how less good looking he was a player compared to the chiseled, film star looks we see now

But I’ve said I don’t mind him being excited. So that’s irrelevant, it’s not being torn down. I do think the rest of the shtick is bullshit, but I’ve pointed out why that’s logical and the connection stuff is credulous bollocks so I’ll just leave it there.
Completely within your rights, I just think that there is a difference between clubs he played for and those he didn't. And we gave him his start in coaching. Maybe I'm giving him too much rope, but I know I'd probably care more about clubs I'd played for than those I didn't.

As you say, moot in regard to whether or not he'll be successful and it shouldn't play a part in that particular question.

RE doesn't have to be in love with Wolves to have a different relationship with us than he does with Boro, Luton, Forest Green, etc. He played for us, whatever small connection that is is still more than he's got with any of the other three. That's a pretty clear thing, IMO. I'm not out here claiming he's Totti for God's sake.

Supporters of Boro, FGR, or whoever else don't really move the needle with me after yesterday. I think the cynicism here is a bit much. What, he can't get excited for more than himself? I don't get it.

Regardless, I'm not on the side of "oh boy Wolves are his life" but that excitement looked totally genuine and he was with the supporters in that moment. Trying to tear that down is just. I dunno, feels like making an effort to find something to be annoyed by. Or otherwise make it congruous with pre-existing views.

I think there's a cultural difference here. Personally, Edwards has grated on me from the start with his chest beating in front of the fans. I get what he's trying to do but it just feels a bit performative to me and I think Brits are generally more attuned to artificial passion than others are. For a lot of Brits, the worst thing you can be is a fake, so while trying to create a bond between the fans and club/players/himself is completely understandable, there's an element of it which is clearly not organic and it feels jarring in a way which I can't really explain properly.

The running down the line in back to back games probably was organic and in the moment. Connsidering how he was before though, beating his chest in front of a half empty stadium after a woeful performance, it just feels a bit... Off.

He's probably just too handsome as well 🤣 If it was Steve Cooper who was doing this he'd probably be getting away with it. British people aren't supposed to look like Rob. It all just feels a bit too forced, glossy and, dare I say it... American (yuck).

Tl;dr We're a nation of dull, neurotic munters and somehow it's all your fault.

Is he really that good looking? Just looks like a pretty normal (albeit above average) looking guy to me, say in an 8/10 kind of way. hardly worthy of constant mentioning like say a David Beckham.

I’ll ask the wife, she had a real thing for Nuno and Connor Coady so she knows her stuff. ill then report back…maybe….perhaps…..probably not.

Each to their own but I don't have any issue with him showing a bit of excitement and I don't think it's for show at all.

Plenty of things to criticise him for with selections and tactics (though he's done pretty well here for the past few games) but no problem seeing him running down the touchline after a 90th minute winner. I hope he gets further opportunities to do this TBQH

My Mrs isn't that struck on him. Her favourites in football seem to be Pirlo and Tonali. Looks wise I think she prefers Nuno and Vitor to Rob. Should have a new thread: 'Rob Edwards - is he really that good looking or should he go?'

We should have a poll on our Welcome threads giving a 1 to 10 looks score.
