Wolves 2-1 Arsenal: Verdict Thread

Not getting carried away but defensively for 44 minutes it was a shit show and we could not have complained if we were 3 down. The first red changed it. Moutinho had an awful first half but ran the show in the second. His goal lifted him visibly. Then Leno, bless him. That’s a Sunday afternoon sending off for a pub team. I am just relieved for three points. Gives us a twelve point gap. More of the same v Leicester please. Just don’t play Kilman at LB!

Hmmm. Pick the bones out of that.

A truly awful 45 minutes then Arsenal decide to cut their own throats. Well, that is their problem and not mine. We just needed any kind of win.

On the positive side, Moutinho was excellent as was Vitinha when he came on.

Negatives...well. Loads of them. Kilman genuinely looked like a parks player. Adama's effort levels were awful in the first half. Podence still doesn't do enough. We never get bodies around José. Semedo was appalling for the goal.

But hey, we won. That's all we needed. How many times have I said we played ok after a defeat? Well, for the most part we didn't here and we won. That's football.

Not to take anything away from him, but you'd expect him to do OK against 10 and 9 men 😉

An EXCITING Wolves game for once!! Arsenal self-destructed and we had a decent chunk of luck in this game, they looked a real handful initially and we didn't have the security of three CBs but we stuck at it and took our chance when presented with it. So pleased for Nuno and the boys.

Boly was great, Jose solid and Adama kept them on their toes. Vitinha had a very good cameo too.

Wonderful to see Moutinho adding something else to his highlight reel at this stage of his career. What a goal.

Obviously need to temper it with the fact we weren't playing 11 v 11 for much of the game, but God I'll take that 3 points happily.

I told my eldest lad we'd win this and he didn't believe me. This is why we all love this weird and wonderful football club!
If only we can get Adama to start before the hour mark ?
We don't need to temper anything, they got sent off, their worry not ours

Much like T3ch I thought the improvement started after they scored. It forced us to make attacking passes and moves.

I was positive Pawson was gonna blow for HT when that goal kick happened. Sure I saw him put his whistle to his mouth. 10s later we have a penalty. Kind of luck we needed to kick start our season again.

I think he was but then probably remember the shit in the Liverpool game when the whistle was blown as they attacked t'other week and let it flow

If anyone can explain why he gave a throw in when it was a corner in the 1st half, please do so

1st double over Arsenal since 1978/79 season

They say that luck evens itself out over the season - I think we had every single piece of luck due this season in one game!

I didn't expect a win, or even frankly a contest, but that's how football can go sometimes.

Huge result

Let's have Semedo and Hoever as our fullbacks though in the next game

Interesting how high a line we played. Left ourselves open to the ball over the top and Kilman was never going to cope with that (as Arsenal demonstrated after 35 seconds).

I did it! Turned it off after 5 minutes, just couldn't watch us being dismantled.
Turns out I was right, I am a Jonah, never gunna watch another live game.
spose I'm a plastic.
Mind you it didn't do my nerves any good as I was keeping tabs on the match thread.

We all know we have a much better team than we've been showing, hope this flicks a switch in the players minds and we can do ourselves justice for the rest of the season.

Pleased that we followed up a clear the air meeting with 3 points, should give Nuno some breathing space too
