Wolves 1-3 Chelsea verdict thread.

Tchatchoua is rubbish but I'm having him 100 times out of 100 over Matt Doherty - in 2026! - as a RB in a back four.

He has never been able to play in that position to any standard above League Two level. The manager himself would be better there, even now.

That's not an understandable decision, it's an absolute ricket.

The game was a microcosm of our season - a bit better second half but all the damage had been done first half. No coincidence we looked better once Hwang and Doherty had been replaced by Krejci and Rodrigo Gomes. As soon as Hwang went down I said to my mate he was going off as he didn't 'fancy' it today. Waste of a shirt.

Liked what I saw of Angel Gomes. Neat, tidy little player with some footballing intelligence. Hope it was a bit of cramp that forced him off as he hasn't played much lately.

At half time I feared today was going to be our first real hiding (Man City was kind of) but we improved, as Rob said, we 'won' the second half...

Gillett was so bad and one sided he should be investigated, absolutely shocking display of officiating.

Weather was dismal, the first half was dismal, the day in general was dismal. Happy days supporting the club

15 points is the minimum that Edwards should get if he's to keep his job. If he can't manage that he deserves to be sacked, but probably won't be.
Christmas next year and we’ll be mid table and listening to the ‘Rob just needs more time’ crowd. The thing the crowd get most worked up about is the presence of Hwang, so I guess there’s a scenario in which Edwards keeps picking him and gets into trouble through that association. More likely that after an unacceptable amount of time he finally just stops playing him now.

Didn’t see it at all with Armstrong today BTW. A bit of energy which is the minimum you’d expect from a new actual number nine. Mainly just utter mediocrity.

Not long got back from the game... not much to add (agree with the comments)... just that we can argue/debate the formations, the line up, etc but there's no accounting for the total idiocy of the two penalty incidents, just brainless.

We already know he isn't a Premier League player, he's had coming up to 100 games at this level and hasn't scored 10 goals.

He's been bought to score 15-20 (and hopefully more) at a level where we know he is good.

I get the sentiment. But you can put those penalties in your accounts with confidence if you keep picking those two players.

He did get an assist today so he's got more assists that Strand Larsen has for Wolves this season.

I’ve only just got in, so all I saw was that we were 3-0 down at half time and it finished 3-1. I didn’t know until about half an hour ago that we played a back four with Doherty at right back!! Probably for the best that I wasn’t watching live

Then I reckon he’s a decent outside bet to be in a future version of the conversation currently going on about disappointing signings.

Tbf to him it was a smart header. I know he can play it, but he's not best utilised as a wide forward, so IF they are going to be around next year we have to find a formation that ends with

----------------------Tolu---------Armstrong---------------
-----‐-------------------------Mane-----------------------

On Hwang there isn't, otherwise Vitor would have played him

First contact isn't the law on penalties, if it's viewed to have continued in the box then it's a penalty.

On the formation, it is the problem when you don't have the players for it. The issue used to the centre halves, now it's the full backs. If.you don't play Doherty, you play someone else not good enough. The team that started the second half should ae started the game.

Bueno was OK ,but they didn't really attack much down that side. He offered nothing offensively first half.when that's his strength because of where he was playing
I don't believe that the offence continued into the box. I think that it at least warranted a check from VAR

Just out of interest...is it a new directive that the match officials blow up when a player is down injured, no matter what the injury is?

Eat-sleep-repeat with this bunch.
Sorry we’re back to where we were in mid December, just scraping around now wondering how we can put together 4 points.
Just point out RE has lost home games v Palace, Forest, Brentford and Bournemouth.
He’s making some tactical shocking decisions, we all could see the back 4 wasn’t going to work with Doc in it. Hwang has done nothing since well forever and keeps getting a start. No surprises the changes we made us look a bit more solid.
I don’t want RE in charge beyond May but I think he will be which will be a huge mistake.
This situation is beyond and always will be.

Just seen the two penalties. Good lord.

Doherty one doesn’t surprise me as it’s just him being slow and shit. There’s no excuse for the Mosquera one, I’d honestly drop him for that.

And hwang’s effort on the third, pathetic.

No surprise to me that we instantly look worse as soon as the window closes.

It was nice to see Angel's passing range, he's a good player.

Armstrong ran around a lot, and it was a good assist for Tolu, I don't like his demeanour though. I didn't in the Wolves TV stuff, and i don't as a player as yet.

Also who was on co comms? More biased than most. Angel got felled and he effectively called him a cheat, 5 mins later Neto went down and he called him clever.

He also said "we" several times ..

Anyway, ref was dreadful too, as were Doherty and Mosquera's moments for the penalties.
