Wolves 1-0 Olympiacos: We're All (virtually) Off To Germany Verdict Thread

Very excited to the extent I am still wide awake even though I was knackered before the game even started as been on parenting duty since 5am, didn't play fantastic but felt some of that was due to the way Olympiacos set up after going a goal behind, really stretched out wide and caused issued. Really needed Jota to score that chance for my heart.

Felt Seville looked excellent tonight, but will take all the European QTR finals you are offering me regardless of opposition. Come a long way since falling out with the Wolves fan next to me at Bradford away, because he was screaming at David Davis and I felt that it was unwarranted!

We had plenty of opportunities to put the game to bed and the chances that we missed were as clear cut as theirs.

I think I’ve aged about 5 years but a European quarter final is well worth it.

Well I have to admit, despite watching every extended highlights video a billion times and following every game on wolves comms, tonight was the first time I have watched wolves live since nuno took over.
Frankly I think after the first ten minutes we looked totally fooked and the best side lost.
Raul looked shagged out and ffs stop that rabona stuff, a left foot shot there and he had his second.
Johnny was a huge loss as I thought olympiacos pulled vinagre all over the park, and saiiss did a monster job helping him out while doing his own stuff.
If var had dissalowed their goal as a no goal for us we would have been screaming blue murder and we finally got lucky, but Rui kept us in the game. They over ran our midfield with ease, and even vinagres attacking prowess dissolved after his first two or three forays forward met with no joy whatsoever.
I was the only wolves fan in a taverna of 130 olympiacos fans and was giving them shit about Adama before the game, has he come on yet????? He fell over more than grealish, (not saying dives), was knocked off the ball constantly and was crossing into the Mander centre, impact only for me for the rest of the tournament.
Donk steadied the ship a bit but we looked all over the shop for long periods of the game, and the Greeks wasted at least three sure fire opportunities.
I appreciate you guys have watched a lot more than me, but for my first live game, I was seriously underwhelmed, but looking on the bright side, there's no way we can play that poorly against Sevilla, and I am going right back to match day comms mind you, I may be a jinx, even though we won.

Watching it live we seemed totally second best and very lucky to win. Having watched it again, the game went as you would expect after we took an early lead. They dominated but we (mostly) defended very well. Their goal was fortunate to be given offside, they could/should have had a penalty for Boly's 2nd half nudge, Rui earned his money, but we had more than enough chances to score at least one more.

We weren't great, Adama in particular didn't show up, but we won which is the only thing that matters. Tournaments are not won by the team that's on fire in its first game, but by the team that improves and saves its best performance for the final. Sevilla will have to work hard to beat us (which they probably will do).

Just rewatched the game (too hungover to sleep). Just as nerve wracking the 2nd time around. Have to say though, apart from the header that Rui saved and the one where El Arabi slips and hits the side netting, all the big chances are for Wolves. We should've been 2-0 up after 15 minutes for a start, there's no way that's a foul on the keeper by Saïss. Then Boly has that open goal and Jota fucks up the 1v1.

The disallowed goal was a bollocks call, if there is a foul there then its actually on Saiss.
Boly just couldn't react in time for his chance and we won't speak of Jota's chance ever again (although not our worse miss in a Euro game)

Pedro Netto likes this

Seen a few people criticise last nights performance, yeah it wasn't vintage but 1) we weren't as lucky as some are making out, yes their goal should have stood but our disallowed goal could easily have too and we also had plenty of chances, and 2) how gutsy and determined was our defensive display. To go through the longest season ever (the players are clearly knackered both physically and mentally) and pull that out the bag? Massively proud.

Amazing achievement 7th in the Premier League and Quarter Finals of the Europa...what a season!

Will sadly just always be the one ruined by Corona for me (and VAR)

Great image of Coady after everyone had left the pitch last night. Just taking it all in

Two things on this image

1) The bottom right corner, for a second it looks like Nuno is doing his team huddle and Coads is a giant
2) If he was a Blues player, they would have reitred his shirt number by now

Was just coming on to post this exact same picture. I love this. What a bloke and what a journey. He was fantastic at the end last night winning that free kick to kill the game.

How excited was he after Nunos post match group talk :)

Did he really give Adama the evil eye ?

It was a dive!

As for Rauls second didn’t it brush Saiss’s arm?

At least he is taking us seriously.

When I saw this thread I thought he'd be saying rubbish about our playing style but turns out he's talking from a position as an opposition fan, can't disagree with his points but surely if he's been paid to talk about football on national radio he has to be more neutral in his comments

Would have thought they would welcome the provocative nature of his comments - got people talking, and has garnered attention.

Whats to talk about? A fan wants us to fail cos he's scared of us......in other news turns out the earth is round
