Wolves 0 Spurs 1 - Verdict Thread

I always hated 3-5-2 in the 90s and I fucking hate it now. Nuno made it work but he is the exception to the rule and he did it in a way you can't recreate (Coady's distribution and as much as I despise him, and I do, but Doherty's ability [then, he can't do it now] to get on the end of things if you never ask him to defend, ever).

It's stodgy fucking crap and we cling to it like a stupid comfort blanket. Fucking stop it. Now.
Maybe he’s on a points bonus because since he took over he’s shown no imagination whatsoever in his tactics or team selection constantly playing for a draw. He’s as vanilla as they come. Look forward to plenty of draws next season.

I was glad not to hear any of that “Rob Edward’s gold & black army” shite in the South Bank today, even his most ardent supporters are starting to realise just what an awful Coach he is.

It was my team’s system from 1995 for pretty much my whole playing life. And man it was stodgeball. But Nuno played more a 3 - 4 - 3 no? With two players at the back post characteristic, so often the overlapping wing back picking an overhit cross up and recirculating it. Wing backs who knew and could play that game were so important.

What we’ve got now isnt even stodgeball. It’s just nothingball.
I thought we were best 352 with Jota central and Donck as the extra midfielder than 343 with Jota moved wide and Adama brought in. Traore was always Nuno's blind spot for me.

Rob was right about one thing, the supporters were excellent today. 99% of it was poking fun at Spurs, singing old players songs and anti Fosun stuff though. Maybe one song for Mané and that was pretty much the only time the fans were influenced by anything going on on the pitch.

If we lose to Sunderland without the Spurs distraction there it will start to turn against him properly IMO

There was certainly tactical nuance going on beyond what I was bothered to take in. Donck and his weird channel being part of that. Guess I hark back to the Championship team when I recall those overloaded flanks and the 3-4-3. Again, could be wrong about that.

I thought we got to a really nice point where we could switch between the two depending on the opponent, game state, fitness etc. the run in 19/20 where we lost 4 in 27 between Chelsea at home and Arsenal at home I think we were the third best team in the league. Fucking covid (and then the rest).

I must admit that i was seething with Simons and the ref for the debacle surrounding his injury. He went off the field after a good few minutes of treatment, went to side of the pitch and went down again on it. The ref, despite playing on for 30 odd seconds before, stopped play for another few minutes.
Don’t wish a serious injury on anyone though and hope that he recovers as quickly as possible.
If the game wasn’t so awful I may have a rant about the 7 minutes added on but it it was a relief to get it over with.

Obviously you can’t, but people like that should be banned.
If he’d flicked the Vs at them, they’d have been outraged and all professional footballers should know better than do things like that

After today, surely everyone can see that RE is not the man for this job. He needs to be changed (and soon) if we even have the slightest chance of getting out of this mess.

And we are in a right fucking proper mess.

Yes, agreed, the players are shite.

But we have no shape, no tactical nous, no identity, no fight, no pace and no leadership.

We have defenders who can’t defend, midfielders that can’t create and attackers that can’t attack.

With the exception of one player today, we were total shite. Boring shite, too.

We might not get the fire sale we want though for this bunch of cunts because, unlike us, most clubs won’t be stupid enough to buy them.

It's annoying, because on paper we should still be able to make a back three work, pressing high. With Toti and Mosquera on the outside, both would be passable covering the flanks, and with João and Andre in front, should really mean we're able to unleash the wing backs higher up. I suppose it would be useful if we had the wing backs to suit that... Again, Hugo should, it's clear he has the technical ability, but I'm unsure how is actual impact given that is as low as it has been.

I mean football fans are the embodiment of hypocrisy, they will give players pelters but the moment a player does it in return they’re outraged.
You’d like to think those cheering were the PL only fans but sadly it won’t be. Innocent of youth gives them all a reality check.
The young girl at the end knows full well you don’t laugh at someone injured.

Typical 25/26 vintage, constantly outmuscled and outpaced in midfield first half especially, miles slower than the opposition in mind and body, passing to said opposition all the time, ball not sticking up front...low quality as ever, and a goal for the other side always going to come as we can't score ourselves.

Can't wait for this team to be ripped up, although the fact that Edwards will helm the squad transition with loads of mediocre (at best) British players and meat and potatoes football isn't something really to look forward to

I'm already deeply concerned as to how we will perform next season.

There will be a huge churn over the summer, with Edwards (🤣) and Jackson (🤣) leading the recruitment.

Edwards has shown nothing to breed any kind of confidence, we're a rabble with no shape, no style, no pace.

I fear that next season could easily be as hard on the eye as this has been.

My mate is a Saint’s fan and said to me that his team’s fortunes turned round when they got rid of Armstrong, so good luck with that!
After seeing Saints yesterday against City, I told my mate that Saints will paste Wolves on the wall next season if they don’t go up.
