Wolves 0 Spurs 1 - Verdict Thread

My mate is a Saint’s fan and said to me that his team’s fortunes turned round when they got rid of Armstrong, so good luck with that!
After seeing Saints yesterday against City, I told my mate that Saints will paste Wolves on the wall next season if they don’t go up.

I think getting rid of Will Still was more of a pivotal factor.

I was fooled into being moderately optimistic pre enforced break about next season.
Since we’ve returned that’s ebbed away very quickly and it’s becoming evident that we’ll start next season with a mish mash of Rob & Jacko recruits and the ones we couldn’t offload.
It won’t work and the hierarchy we realise it in about November again when we’re floating in the bottom half and Rob is gaslighting everyone after a plucky late draw at home to Cardiff.

I've only watched Southampton this season in the 2 recent FA cup games. Against the 2 best teams in the country while having a lot less of the ball they look fitter, more pro active, calmer and most importantly far better coached than Wolves in any game I've seen.

Same as my thoughts.

There's nothing more Rob could do though
It was a tough ask for Edwards when he came in but from what I've seen, he has spent the vast majority of his (coaching) career being a very average coach. Did brilliantly getting Luton up, (his career highlight) but since then has reverted to type.
I don't blame him, he is what he is. The fault all lies with Fosun/Jeff Shi. I feel till we get rid of them we'll carry on in a (mis) managed decline.

Operation: Be Positive is absolutely flying along here.

It's like blaming society for murderers. There's always context but you can't absolve the guy that does it completely.

Unless you think he was insane for taking the job

It'll all change in September when Fosun spend a shit load, we swap all the dross for competent top Championship footballers and we're lying in 2nd.

He was insane for taking the job.

Still his fault for parts of this disaster though.

Fans can't just conjure it out of thin air though.

The club, players and even poor Rob need to create the spark. And I don't just mean PR statements, bare minimum ticket slashing or Rob flashing the pearlies after every loss

I meant from the club side more than ours.

Nath has done an ok job in his talk so far and rightly adjusted the focus to what is coming...a month off followed by 3 shitty defeats and probably 4 more to follow have trampled over that and then beat it to death.

There is one or things thing they can to focus that again though.

Rob was talking in his post match about things taking a long time to sort and the fans needing to understand that...yet the club (Nathan? Can't remember) were recently talking about an instant return being the aim.

Doesn't seem the positivity is aligned?

Managers always love talking about time and patience when things are going crap. It’s how they justify their position when things don’t go well.
He took the job, if his great aim this season was to pick about 17 points from 27 matches then why bother?
When next season starts off poorly I fully expect the same rhetoric to be spoken.
Getting us to 20 points was the bare minimum

I'm not buying into this that there was little Edwards could do.

For sure, we were almost certainly going to be relegated but the least I would have expected is there to be some semblance of shape and style of play.

There's neither... just a rabble... and thrown into the mix is a total absence of tactics other than to try to keep it at nil nil for as long as possible.

We don't look any better now from when Edwards first came in... what's he fashioned?

Sa should be punching him there, either before or after the goal is fine

Failing that Tolu could do it.
