Wolves 0-3 Man City: Verdict Thread

The mentality of the team should (and does) come from the manager.

Not a hope on Sundays that Costa doesn't end up doing what all our players have been doing recently: gesticulating in frustration at another wasted opportunity.
You can't have the overall mentality of the squad down to one man, people aren't robots that suddenly think in the way someone else tells them to. Sure individuals can have influence over one another, exactly what I'm hoping from Costa, but different individuals respond to one another in different ways, it's difficult thing to judge individual to individual let alone influencing a collective group.

It seems fairly obvious at this juncture that there is a serious disconnect between Lage and essentially every player anyway, so having someone else that may influence them can only be a positive. Having that influence come from within, in terms of playing squad, rather than above, coaching team, may get a completely different response from some individuals too.

Either way, this group of players need to start thinking and acting like they're better than they're currently performing, there doesn't seem to be much will to upset the status quo at the moment. It all just seems consigned to failure at the moment with no-one doing anything to prove anyone wrong, a new voice in the dressing room might, hopefully, make a difference.

But Nunes and Guedes haven't been injured and that's who you said would be upto speed?
No but they are coming from Portugal to the premier league, that takes some getting used to.
Yesterday they both showed massive improvements.

Won’t they both be away with Portugal so no further acclimatisation at Compton?

Edit: Guedes not selected.

In what way?

Nunes hasn't been poor for us so far, far from it. Lage has him playing the same stupid "centre midfielder who runs down the right wing" role that he had Dendoncker playing. It doesn't work. He's done ok within that though and yesterday was no step forward at all, he's just a good player.

Guedes has done nothing so far and did nothing yesterday, bar being at fault for a goal.

Not quite sure what to make of Nunes yet, he looks a good footballer but other than retaining the ball well under pressure I'm yet to see anything really eye catching about him. I know nothing of him pre-Wolves but for the money spent I was expecting there to be something a bit more 'wow' that really stood out.

Nunes has looked fine when he's actually played in his proper position. Which is why he magically looked superb second half when he was picking the ball up deep.

Guedes came from Spain, he was ok as he has been every game.

For me Nunes has flitted in and out of games, periods of quality followed by periods where he disappears, doesn't seem to now what his role is sometimes.

For me neither of them.have affected games enough.
Not quite being at the pace required.

Yesterday both showed signs of being cable to affect games

What did Guedes do to demonstrate this? I'm genuinely interested, I haven't seen much from him so far and nothing yesterday showed that for me

Guedes and Nunes will be up to speed, Jiménez and Costa ready.

Enough positives yesterday
Jimenez is out for ages and the manager is on record as saying the most Costa can do in 2 weeks is 15 mins

The manager also said Sasa had a minor injury so what he says matters very little tbf. West Ham have been poor this season but I have zero faith in us beating them because we never, ever look like scoring a goal.

I wish he'd pack this bollocks in. Nuno tried the same thing which is why I think this is deeper than the coach.

The next coach needs to fuck off outside influences and do their own thing.

Really pertinent point and not highlighted enough.

We're all rightly piling on the out-of-his-depth Lage, but some of the rot goes deeper than that stooge.

Let's hope they make the right choice, boot him and employ someone with a pair of bollocks

Simple fact is that if we don’t find a way to score some goals then we will definitely be relegated.

If Costa can work some magic or we can get somebody in January then there is a slim chance we could stay up with Lage, if not it’s all over already.

Getting rid of Lage is the only option. We need to do it fast. I would rather he goes today and put ANYBODY else in temporary charge.

Lage hasn’t got a clue, but he thinks he has.

couldn't watch live so watched this on replay yesterday.

... oof. should've checked the forum after 20 mins to save myself some time. 😅

I have not read anywhere that Jiménez is out for a while, i spose I am hoping Jiménez is back he does 60 - 70 minutes then 20 mins for Costa.

Our glorious leader says he is not even training with the first team squad
