Wolves 0-2 Brentford

Whether he has been ok or not is moot, the fact that he is our captain after 8 seasons in the PL is a total joke.

It's someone who was mooching about on a golf course in July, who had barely kicked a ball in a year, who had exactly no offers on the table, and we happily handed him a three year deal.

And he isn't a centre half and he isn't a right back or a left back and he is definitely not a wing back any more.

He isn't why we're shit, he embodies why we are shit.

"X or Y are worse" is not an argument.

He's been very functional for a while now, was solid in Vitor's back 3 last year. Not sure why people are still going for him when I think its quite obvious he is one of the few who do care.
Clearly he shouldn't be close to the starting line up of a team that is, nominally at least, in the PL and like all our centre halves can switch off, they had a chance today where he lost his man. However, whether he's captain or not he's the one who week in, week out, turns up to interviews and doesn't give up - look where he was when he won the penalty. If he'd signed 2.5 years ago without any of the history, it'd be seen as a solid squad player free transfer

The fact that the total imbecile Lemina and the non footballer Toti have been captain says a hell of a lot more. Our best captain recently has been Conor Coady. I wished relegation on us when horseface treated him the way he did. Lost a lot of interest since then tbh.

This isn’t what you said though.

He signed as a squad player. And has been totally fine as one. He’s probably on fuck all compared to some

You said he was lazy with a shit attitude when if anything has demonstrated the complete opposite in the last 12 months.

It it is an arguement. He is definitely a better right back than Tchatchoua, Lima and Hoever, probably R Gomes as well.
There is NO ONE else.
He's a better footballer than Agbadou and Toti - Percentage decisions with the ball tells as much.
He's never going to be Trent A A, or Kyle Walker. He does care and he gives it his best.
Keep on calling him fat is laughable.
Why don't you call Andre (the passenger) Mr. Gloves?
Bone idle, coward that lad.

Doherty has a good first touch and reasonable control but the pace of a lame hedgehog means that every game this and his lack of concentration results in opponents getting two or three opportunities. As said above the fact the others aren’t much better is a perfect illustration of how badly run we have been since before his return.

As for giving his best, opinions vary, but I’ve seen him jogging back from sorties upfield for far too many years to take that view seriously.

Where have I done that, or anyone else?

Not since about 2017.

He was fat then, he was an absolute disgrace. He is a better pro now (low bar) but absolutely miles off being a Premier League standard defender.

Nonsense
Made your mind up 10 years ago or more and won't change it.
Selected by manager after manager but you know better.
Better captain than Toti, Lemina and the other arseholes who've been captain recently.
Not massively talented and is scruffy looking, but in most of his later career has been fit, lean, can read a game, played Martinelli well for the most part besides one run, last week, which he was never going to win.
Can win a header, play a first time pass, generally makes the correct percentage decision when he's got the ball.
Better footballer and more reliable and consistent than, Toti, Agbadou, Hoever, Tchatchoua.
Very low bar, I accept.

Ah the old "MaNaGeRs PiCkEd HiM" fallacy.

The managers that Doherty has played under. The ones in bold are the ones I wouldn't check if they told me the sky was blue.

Great to see RE walking past the South Bank applauding the fans and saying "I know, I know, it's ok".

It's not ok and if you know why are you playing the same formation with the same gameplan every week.

He was brought in with the express intention of mollifying the fans as 'one of us' and shielding Shi. Not playing winning football or actually trying to keep us up.

Unfortunately for both of them that was yet another Shi masterplan that failed spectacularly

You can't say anything really that will make people happy after a loss like that, but fair credit to Doherty for (indirectly) calling out those that want to leave in Jan as cowards. A lot of these players are going to be remembered as associated to one the club's lowest point for a long time. JSL will probably be the figurehead, then Sa/Johnstone.

Look do I think doc should be playing for us at this stage? Absolutely not however what he’s said is bang on imo.
Football is a sport where you can actively go hiding when things go to shit. Tells me there’s some seriously bad attitudes in the dressing room with some players counting down their time left here. Doc performance haven’t been any worst than Hoever, or Jackson but that’s not a high bar considering both of them would average in league 1.

pnly saw the first half yesterday but JSL was performing again like a bloke who knows he's moving on and doesn't intend risking an injury. why can't RE see this ?

Finally watched the highlights this morning. We were absolutely pathetic. Edwards hasn’t got a clue how to change it either.

I think you give him too much credit.

He spent a decade in charge of a professional team yet seems to have never developed any kind of contacts outside of the club, bar those introduced by Mendes. Promoting repeatedly from within, rather than accepting the need to run actual hiring processes including detailed job briefs, interviews, etc, let him concentrate decision-making power in his hands, with those beneath him lacking the stature and/or experience to really challenge his direction. And that’s also not to give him too much credit as a Macchiavellian schemer either - I think it’s just a reflection of both his poor understanding of the sport, and his limitations as a leader.

Like, he actually considered re-hiring GON, and then he went back to someone else he knows from working together a few years ago. I don’t think he has the faintest clue how a properly run club would actually run a managerial hiring process, in just the same way he seems to have allowed both the academy and the scouting setups to wither away through lack of investment and care.

The highlights do not do justice to how bad it is.
Watching seven players defending and three further forward completely isolated was soul destroying. The fact it was against a team that had lost 7/8 away games was just adding insult to injury. Prior to MU I hadn’t left a game before the final whistle in over forty years, now I’ve left two and my only regret is I didn’t leave sooner or wait a bit so that I missed the rush.

Yeah its absolutely soul destroying sitting there week after week watching the same story unfold. There is literally zero joy or enjoyment in attending Molineux these days, a truly miserable place.

Said to my mate at half time yesterday that we reached the break at 0-0 but the inevitable howlers would undo us second half.

Just watched the 'highlights' on MOTD, noticeable that the players look defeated even as they walked out before the match. They have forgotten how to win and look mentally shot.

JSL's penalty was an absolute disgrace, terrible, and summed us up completely. Not only did Tolu do more than him within seconds of his introduction, he did more than JSL has done all season (apart from scoring against Italy ffs).

Mane too was a ray of light, really looked at home and his cross for Wolfe was excellent, must start.

Lopez on the other hand was weak as piss and was easily muscled off the ball every time he went near it.

Brentford, like others who have beaten us, weren't very good but didn't need to be to notch a couple of goals and go home with 3 points and a clean sheet courtesy of Banter FC.

Rob Vanilla says we need to decide how we want to lose (inspirational), well this was very much losing in disgrace
