Wolves 0-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

Marcal should've been off a lot sooner. Man couldn't cross the road and we didn't need him to defend.

Semedo was...ok? I'm still not 100% sure what to make of him at times, he can be neat and tidy and shows good awareness and then he's just, clumsy, I guess? Overhit pass here, mishit cross there.

Neves was excellent but unfortunately dropped a clanger for their goal.

Kilman was good, Saiss and Coady did alright but didn't have a huge amount to deal with - whenever anyone is running with the ball in Coady's vicinity he doesn't look comfortable and I don't think that's going to change. Did have some good long passes though, very vintage. Having said that I've not seen the pen again but someone obviously screwed up to allow Alli through.

Trincao flattered to deceive a bit IMO, didn't influence the game enough but there's a player there. Raul was busy but nothing came off for him, I don't think there should be an issue with him going forwards though.

Adama - I mean what can you say. Where he seemed to pick the wrong option frequently last week he was completely on it today. Honestly surprised we didn't go at Tanganga more in the 2nd half because he was ripe for a 2nd yellow. Shame as his performance deserved a goal but as every pundit from here to Kathmandu is going to parrot he has to take his chances.

Think there's more/better to come, if I'm honest. The aggression and winning the ball back high up (repeatedly) is refreshing and *should* lead to goals.
That's the spirit !!!! 👍

Glad you agree.

It's fine margins. A better cross here, more insightful pass there and we win comfortably, same as last week. The team seems to be coming together well, if the individuals can improve their decision making etc it should really start to click.

That is what you were saying, isn't it?

Finally got TV at home and this was the first wolves game i have watched live for about five years.
trincao needs one trick less, but I think there is a good player in there.
Shooting boots for Adama , trincao and nerves required urgently.
I cannot see why DW hates kilman, he played really well with a couple of good blocks and timely tackles.
The playing style is brilliant to watch, so compliments to Bruno for making it happen so quickly.
Raul still not match fit, and to play this style we need a much quicker cb than Swiss and Cody, but all in all if....we make one or two additions and get the injured players back, I think this side can do good things this season.
Put Neto on that pitch today and we win with ease.

Maybe it's a bit harsh, but I will say this.....
Wolves are a far better watch, for a non-Wolves fan, than they were under Nuno.

You were the side, along with Burnley, which I least liked to watch.
Not sure you're going to get a single argument otherwise, tbf

It demonstrates what these players have always been capable of, which kind of makes the past 18 months all the more frustrating.

that was my exact thought during the thread when there were comments about our lack of new signings.

"well, even without this is still miles better..."

The good news is we've only conceded 2 goals. We could be conceding 2/3 a game and really look in the shit for the future. We don't though which is encouraging.

I agree with this. I really thought we would be sieve-like with a new attacking mentality but we’ve kept it fairly solid.

No real concerns for the season now. Jimenez is still getting his sharpness back, and we're incredibly easy on the eye- I can easily see us clicking big-style, preferably with a few new incoming.

Absolutely. They’re the same players as last season minus Trincao and Sa, and perhaps Sa’s quicker distribution has helped slightly, but the coaching staff have turned this squad around so far where playing style is concerned. And not in a lot of time either when you consider most were away until mid-pre season.

We also put in a sustained performance for 90 minutes…

You lads were unlucky not to get a point last week....Even more unlucky not to get all 3 today!
Hopefully it's just a case of the first one going in, and the rest to follow....Rather than be this season's Brighton.

Traore was great again, no end product....But he's the major threat all the time, just being on the pitch.

Spurs were terrible.
Didn't think they were good last week either.
Going backwards like Arsenal.
Careful Leon, this lot bloody love Brighton! I was lambasted for continuing to include them in last year's relegation thread!

Glad this game is out of the way tbh.

Frustrating result, but encouraging and great to see the positivity on here.

Looking forward to the cup game and a signing or two before the Utd game?

I’m interested to see how Bruno approaches the cup. Will he see it as a competition we can realistically win?

Yea, and i'm concerned that statement will become the norm if we don't get the ball in the net sharpish.
Interesting watching the training video this week that John Ruddy needed to explain to Adama about putting the ball the wide side of the keeper. Tells you what you need to know about Adama's thinking. Hopefully soon he makes better decisions on where to place the ball. Preferably in the net would be nice..

Lack of shots on target and real work for the keepers the last two weeks concerns me, I am not going to lie.

But ultimately Adama has had clear cut goal scoring chances in both matches. Raul gets those chances instead and we’re sitting on 6 points with two wins.

Difficult to be anything other than optimistic, really. Although Bruno desperately needs some support from Jeff Shi.
