In what sense!@YoungWolf - could you do some analysis on WJ and Fabio Silva in that game? I'm interested to know just how mental I am
46 years is nothing! To the point of "throw-in," I think you'll find it's a compound noun, so that's why one says seven throw-ins and not seven throws in.god knows......tbf its been 46 years since my English language 'O' level
I dunno? Whatever stats are good to show how forwards perform, I was really interested to see you could get stats around pressures for Neves and Moutinho. In what sense!
He really wanted the "Vardy to come off the bench and win the game" narrative to ring true, it was painful. One thing that always amuses me is commentator bias, damn good job Vardy never scored or the amount of spaff would have surely jammed transmissions. I know Super Don is a bit more unbiased, but if the other chap could have willed the ball to go in any harder he would have ended up with an aneurism

I guess pass completion, duels won, shots, progressive ball carries, ball retention - that kind of thing I guess?
I agree but when Traore or Neto are the recipients they are absent from the scene or don’t score either. Comes down to the fact that we never have enough players going forward. The Palace game has been the only blip in the general turnaround of our form (counting the Chelsea draw).
It's having the killer instinct and finishing off the chances Neto/Traore create that is now our biggest problem.
I know there is some critique of Otasowie on the build up thread for the Saints game. Part of the reason I would like to see him more is that he appears to have a natural drive forward. In the brief cameos he has stretched the opposing midfield by driving forward and finding space and the fact that he was able to miss from six yards emphasises that for me. No other midfielder of ours would have made that run. I agree he may be raw, but he has good energy and as long as he is protected by Neves I would like to see him start. He could be a real gem find but we will not know until we try him.I agree but when Traore or Neto are the recipients they are absent from the scene or don’t score either. We usually only use one central striker, we all know Raul very rarely comes off when fit as even when he is playing badly he can pop up with a goal - with that in mind when does Silva get any game time at all if Jose is here? We wont be sending him out on loan.Unless Fabio comes on leaps and bounds between now and the start of next season I wouldn't think it wise to again have him as the only backup for Raul.
Not saying that has to be Jose, but if not then an alternative, and if not a direct like for like then I like YW's suggestion of a player who can do a job up front and as a wide forward too

A player who can play wide and through the middle would be nice as an option but still either most of their game time is going to one from wide otherwise Fabio is never going to play
Then you are in a situation where Fabio Silva who we purchased for £35m is the third choice option in a team that uses one central striker. Cannot see it happening, he isn't going to develop in that scenario as he won't see the pitchThe logic of your first paragraph seems sound, but again exposes us to the same scenario we've had this season.
While I'm not expecting Raul to have such a catastrophic injury again we could still miss him for games, and if we're saying Fabio is for the future (therefore we're not judging him too harshly) then I wonder if he'll have come on that much in six months time. I'd rather have a more senior option, whatever that is.
Maybe one of the reasons Raul never comes off is because there's no one else, and we've seen how we perform without a focal point.
If we genuinely harbour serious ambitions in this league then we and Nuno need to be able to manage, rotate and keep happy a larger group of quality players.
How do you propose Fabio becomes that plan B or even develop into plan A if his path into the team is being blocked? He won't develop by not playing any games.I haven't said Jose is necessarily the answer, but we've all been wringing our hands for the past three months and saying losing Raul is the reason our season nose-dived and Fabio isn't ready.
You don't call someone your best player then have no vaguely suitable plan B for their absence. Let's learn our lesson
