Winter Improvement Thread (aka Winter Squad Weakening Thread and TWF Suicide Watch)

Either I misheard or they got it badly wrong!

Wonder if this "other striker" notion is a replacement for RVLP?

This is pure class in a world of football hot air.

Just had a text off Jonzy. Mason a 'done deal'. Set in stone.

I suppose this one was also in tears when he left Cardiff?

I really dont know what is happening/what we are doing at our club at the moment...is it because morgan wants out?

Basically yeah. We're drifting because for now we have zero external funding. Even given that some of the decisions are plain weird, but I put the blame there on our manager who waved bye bye to the plot about three months ago.

Totally agree with you..I really liked KJ but he has just lost it and just trying to survive now. Tactics, transfers among other things are just up the wall atm..we need to find a new manager, and i would like us to upgrade bigtime in the scouting/transfer department

I think Wolves are intentionally holding up the Mason/Williamson deals in order to painfully unveil them together. It will be a cringefest but oh well.

It will be funny to see the reaction on the Mix though, the usual suspects are already clearly seething 2 deals are as good as done, with the potential of more.

I just wish one of those deals was not Mason at £3.5m, I will obviously give him every opportunity, but it strikes as a real panic buy.

In a nutshell. We can all debate whatever budget was on offer but there was a gross failure of three people to progress us. Personally I'm far warmer to KJ than the other two although it cannot be argued there is a splattering of Kenneth about all signings. I seriously think Morgan saw that the going rate for a striker in this league was about nine or ten million and shat himself. I really don't blame him if he hasn't the nouns to assemble a team who can make football teams win.

How is it a panic buy when we've chased him for over a year?

I agree with you, the one thing we can't accuse the club of here is panic buying. Williamson has already played for us and Mason was chased in the summer. Neither are good enough to take us remotely close to the play-offs mind you but then that is a failing of the recruitment staff and the limitations of a manager who is bottom half of the championship material.

Tbh, it smacks of a club doing the same with thing players as it's done with the manager - get in players proven to be able to handle this level who will play within our wage budget, because the primary aim is to avoid relegation, not risk anything for promotion. Jackett won't go because he can keep us treading water, and that's what an investor needs to see. Stability.

I bet he could relegate us next year. Unlikely the bottom five will be quite so bad next time around.

Basically I think he has 18 games to prove why he should keep his job, and he's lucky to have that. If he can't marry actual attacking with not playing 8-1-1 then he should go. Well he should go anyway, but you know.

If I spend the next three months watching a left hand side of Matt Doherty and James Henry I am not going to be pleased.

Why?! Strange thing to come out with. Does it really matter how they're unveiled FFS??
