Where did I say things can't be disappointing I pointed out that there's levels of disappointment and not reaching the champions league in only our 2nd season in the prem is no where near 'proper gutted' level (I gave some examples of times that were) and anyone who thinks it is is either a) a deluded idiot who or b) some bandwagoner who's only really paid attention since 2018 so doesn't understand the bigger picture.

I'm talking from a supporters point of view players will obviously come at things differently and lets face it will say whatever they're told to say by their agent/advisors for the most part.

Rauls a great player and its great having him and the like at Wolves but don't kid yourself to think that they wouldn't be off somewhere else if they thought it would further their own career quicker. the disappointment will be in comparision for his own career goals and past not the clubs. Not knocking them for it that's just football, the days of Steve Bull's are gone.

As we progress expectations increase, losing out in the Sherpa Van Semi final in 1989 was a bloody big deal to me at the time, losing to Watford at Wembley last season was too in real terms are those 2 comparable? No! Doesn't mean that the sensations aren't the same some 30 years later.

I think it's reasonable to look at the table and be proud of where we are once again, whilst simultaneously having a sensation of "what could have been".

I wonder if City fans bollock one another if they dare to be disappointed about finishing 2nd this season, after all they were in League one not all that long ago too.

There will always be what could have been unless you have a season like Liverpools and win pretty much everything

We won't win every game and there will be games where we're just not at the races.

For me, the key is being able to look objectively at our achievements and think we've done bloody well. Of course we could have done better but life just doesn't work that way

To even be a position where we were seriously being talked about as CL contenders and having to 'make do' with 7th is pretty much the best anyone could have hoped for.

Poor comparison City are an established top 3 team now and have been for some years. If we're sitting here in 10 years time and we've won the league a few times and been 1st or 2nd for most of it I'll be gutted if we finished 2nd too.

City's rise has been by football standards pretty quick and to their credit sustainable but it still took them time.

City finished 9th, 16th, 8th, 15th, 14th, 9th, 10th, 5th and 3rd before winning the title.

Imagine how 'proper gutted' b3h would be if we finished 16th this season!

Out of interest and due to lack of desire to not Google shit, does anyone know how teams, not in the Big 6, have faired in the season after they have qualified for the Europa in recent years. I don't recall many getting as far as us and improving their points haul the next and as we all know Burnley playing until a couple of game in September ruined their whole season last year.

But even so they would have lived through the heartache of the dive to league 1, Unless they're under 10 no real excuse.

Think some people need to remember sometimes this is our SECOND season back in the prem.

Not so sure its age anyway its over expectation from a good chunk of our fanbase. Lets face it if you take your Wolves hats off we (as a fanbase) are known for it. It comes back to bite us on the arse loads, It happened in the 90's loads. How many neutral commentators/ex players/managers etc have talked about Molineux being a great place atmosphere wise BUT will turn quite quickly.

It gets a bit overstated, Stoke, Swansea and Southampton all stayed about the same as far as I remember.

Fulham went all the way and they were fine.

It's just an easy excuse.

Worse off the top of my head. Think only Everton and Saints actually qualified for the groups. Although with most the teams finishing 7th they often lose their best players/ managers and in West Ham’s case sign shite.

And as DW says, when I say worse I mean don’t progress, but at the same time don’t end up in a relegation battle.

A bit harsh to call people idiots for feeling disappointed at not getting Champions League football: it's only natural given how close we've come and the manner in which we've been denied it. If these people were calling for Nuno's head as a result of that disappointment then you'd be right to insult them.

My main concern is about Nuno staying for the next few years. If that happens then Champions League football becomes a matter of 'when' not 'if.

Even when it was looking at it's most likely I never really allowed myself to get excited about the possibility of Champions League football so I'm not too disappointed.

I'd be absolutely delighted with Europa League next season. Considering where we've come from it's been an absolute dream come true to play teams like Torino, Besiktas, Espanyol, Braga, Olympiacos etc and I'd love to have the chance to have a similar journey next season.
