West Brom (A, FAC) 28/1: Build-Up & Match Thread

Bellegarde is a bit of a non-entity today, no real presence in the middle and don't really have an option. Be tough to drop Fraser into this.

Left hand side is a weak link, Toti does seem to be struggling.

Their long throw was a big scare, habe to defend those better.

Lovely goal by Neto.

Doc probably our MOTM so far.

Absolute scenes.
Yep, he's been excellent. He actually smiled when he clipped Wallace too, seems to be enjoying it.

Just hope he carries on concentrating as we know he can drift off.

Dawson and Kilman excellent too.

Toti has been odd, defending well on the front foot but looked all at sea a couple of times too.

Lemina needs to get in the game more.

I'm exhausted :ROFLMAO:

We've got the lead, so that's what ultimately matters but was a meh half from us until the goal. No coincidence that off an opposition corner they could counter for first time and it was our best chance (and duly taken).

But it these sorts of games, doesn't matter how it's done...

Bellegarde has a thankless role, IMV. Never really a forward. When he’s dropped deep he’s helped us gain or maintain possession effectively. Isolated against CBs just isn’t his game, though.
I think JRB has been OK.

This is just such a different game for all of them.

On the goal, I loved the Albion cheer when Neto was almost tackled, then the deafening silence, then the Wolves fans roar.

Orgasmic bliss.

As a more traditional midfielder, he's a lot better higher up/out wide than Nunes ever was.

Doc has played well, but for me Doyle has been the best player on the pitch. Cunha has been disappointing, but the 2nd half should suit us as they are going to have to come out more giving us more opportunity to hit them on the break.

If anyone hasn't got a feed and relies on TWF for a game summary, a couple of points...
Kilman is playing well, with 4 outstanding saves interceptions and sliding blocks, reading the game well.
Doherty is playing well apart from a lapse early on has got up to speed and making a decent contributions, and then...
Doherty clearing the ball out of our box, just about dead centre, runs forward and just short of the centre line sees Neto tearing off down the right touch line and slots a lovely diagonal between two frantically reversing defenders nicely into Neto's path and he continues with defenders trying frantically to keep up about level with the box, Neto cuts in and runs along the box into the 'D' evades a tackle, pauses to let another tackle sweep past and belts it with his left foot acutely back hard along the ground and past a flying defender and the keeper wrong footed makes a flying attempt to reach it but it's just past his fingertips into the bottom right corner. Sweet!

Yeah Doyle has certainly been more involved than anyone else and has made really good decisions.

Did this. Am assuming they'll pay out as thomas-assante had a header on target early on?

Not that I've seen yet so far. Nunes was far more effective with the ball in the final third even in a role he wasn't suited to.

Wouldn't surprise me at all to see RAN come on for JRB at some point if he doesn't want to throw Fraser into this game. Keep Doc at LWB and play RAN further forwards but help out more defensively too.
