He literally said there was nothing more he could do with this group of players. Although I believe he said that to ensure the sacking, if we hadn't got rid then there's no way we'd have got anything from either game, even if the opposition played as poorly as they did.Who knows if we'd have lost them under O'Neil, as has been said its 2 very poor teams, it's possible we could have scraped 2 wins but certainly not as comfortably.
What that would have meant was GON would have kept his job and there's no chance we could maintain a good run of points under him. Viva Vitor.
I've been GON out for the majority of the season but that comment cemented my irritation of him him as a man.He literally said there was nothing more he could do with this group of players. Although I believe he said that to ensure the sacking, if we hadn't got rid then there's no way we'd have got anything from either game, even if the opposition played as poorly as they did.
The key word here is occasion, singular. With GON it was definitely a case of too much information and overloading players with tactical thoughts and instructions. Hence the constant iPad and the media wanking themselves silly over him explaining it on the occasion it worked well.
Vitor has come in and seems to have a much simpler approach. Clear and simple tactical instructions and talking more about giving players confidence rather than formations/positional ideas. But not in a Dave Jones "Once you cross that white line....." hopefully.
Most young football players aren't academics or great thinkers, so it's no wonder that simpler is generally better.
He himself seemed resigned to the death spiral. Blaming the players entirely was just a cunt move - accept some fucking responsibility for your own inept performance. Wanker. Not trying to pick an argument mate, I'm just a long way past giving him the benefit of the doubt.
We were in a death spiral and he wasn't pulling us out of it for me.
Yeah but GO had loads of games against the best teams where we had no chance of a result...As Louie has mentioned on the Villa thread, Vitor has now overtaken O'Fraud. 10 from 9 vs 9 from 15.
Doubt it'll be his "new local" now it's been splashed across the news. The guy probably wants to enjoy a pint in peace.![]()
Cheers! Wolves boss spotted celebrating Aston Villa defeat at a local pub and he's becoming a regular
Wolves boss Vitor Pereira certainly had plenty to celebrate after his team's 2-0 victory over Aston Villa coupled with other results helped to ease their relegation worries somewhat.www.expressandstar.com
