Welcome to Wolves Vitor Pereira

1.2 ppg, isn’t it?
Yep!

Which has already made me feel a hell of a lot better about our chances.

It feels like just simply sorting out defending on set pieces and everything else staying similar would be enough to pick up 1.2

But obviously it's not quite that simple!

It's still 7 wins and 5 draws when we don't look like winning any and have played the 2 worst teams at home already
It's highly unlikely we can escape relegation, will take a huge dollop of luck and a massive improvement defensively.
As football fans its in our DNA to hope for the best I suppose.

Sporting director Matt Hobbs said: “Vitor is a highly experienced and accomplished head coach who has demonstrated his ability to succeed at the highest level. His personality, desire and leadership qualities stood out to us during this process, and we’re excited to see how he applies his expertise here at Wolves.
What process? Ask Mendes to 'Help!'?

Fuck off tea boy

I think he'll be 'fine' but I don't if that will be enough. The real key will be what they do in January. How much back on the Mendes train are we?

The problem with that is the J Mendes catalogue is a bit Littlewoods these days if you strip out players who've already been here or who will obviously never come here.

Yes, if we didn't already have him the type of player he'd be pushing is Guedes. Even before we moved away from him there were more Trincaos and Silvas at the end than Netos. I don't believe we are going to suddenly throw money around, but even if we do, Mendes isn't the silver bullet some seem to think it is.

Like David Carmo is the kind of CH he might get us, and I'm fairly sure I'd hate watching him every week.

Given the state of our defence I think the January window is as important as who became manager. VP appears to be competent if uninspired choice. A bit like Moyes in as much as he has shown he can sort a defence but without the PL experience. Best of luck and my God you’re going to need it. A win at Leicester with a wicked deflection off Larsen’s arse whilst they hit the woodwork three times and Johnstone makes more than one save would be a good start!

I'm not bothered about PL experience. There are numerous managers who have adapted, not least Nuno and Lop. I think a good HC wherever they work and VP has adapted to many leagues and countries over the years.

I find him a more inspiring choice than Moyes or Potter - the latter is either a lazy twat or thinks he's better than he is given the amount of jobs he has rejected

It's not a deal breaker for me, but us being completely incapable of defending the most basic of situations and/or making ridiculous errors that lead directly to goals is.

And I don't think anyone is fixing that. They might make it a bit better than Gazketball in that respect but not by enough. Ask yourself how many other first XIs in the PL that any of Sa, Johnstone, Doherty, 2025 Dawson, Toti or Bueno get in. Charlie George could probably count them on the fingers of one hand, for any of them.
