Welcome to Wolves Jorgen Strand Larsen

My concern with JSL is that he seems to be knocked off the ball easily, and frankly for a big lad is a bit powderpuff in aerial challenges.
Yes he gets in behind, and often the ball is not played into him or his runs, but.....
His holding of the ball is average, his layoffs are a bit random, and i don't think he strikes much fear into anyone especially not a prem defender.
Vic needs to get get him roughhousing a bit more, knock a few people off the ball, and leave one on, as they say, every now and again.

He’s looked pretty so so in recent outings. Actually thought he looked a bit better last night than when he came on against Bournemouth. The latter was really quite poor. I think he’s noticeably lazy when compared to Raul when it comes to offering an option. That’s both in the build up to a pass and in the effort during the contest. That might be confidence, but the work rate could definitely be improved and, as he has no other stand out attributes, it needs to.

I really liked the look of him when he first signed, but I realise now that it was probably because we were just so desperate for a centre forward and hadn't had a proper option since Raul.

My opinion now is he's still got loads of areas of his game that he needs to improve - and at 25 years old - he's not even young in football terms. He's looked really poor these last couple of games so maybe he isn't fit? I'm far from convinced by him as it stands.

Could be worse, we could have zirkzee, who is worse than fabio, mind you, so is Hodjlund.

I think his performances of late need to improve (even just before the injury) but if he knocks in a few goals in the last 11 games it won't have been a terrible return goal wise. The issue is as ever, if we don't take up the option on him I'd dread to see what they'd find and sign instead.

We've already triggered the option

Is that official? Must have missed that. Saw E+S speculating about it but didn't know that was confirmed..
They reported it rather than speculated. The club won't confirm until the end of the season.

Lads got 7 goals in his debut season for a side not performing. Came into a new quicker faster league and acquitted his self well until he was ran into the ground and then he picked up his knock. Was absolutely fine on Saturday, no clue where the idea has come from others that he wasn’t and then he played on scraps yesterday with little support around him and the less said about the service the better.

We rarely played to his strengths under GON but we don’t at all now. Look at his goals and his chances this season, they’re mostly from crosses and balls played in behind. We rarely cross the ball and much like yesterday when we do it’s pretty poor on most occasions and how often do we play a ball into him like for his goal at Spurs?

He’s got flaws obviously or he wouldn’t be here, he focuses on the defender too much from long balls played into him, despite his size it’s just not his game.
Hopefully we can stay patient with him and we can start to give him better service so he can get to 10 goals or back to having the chances he got against Forest and Newcastle.

Comms against Fulham said we were the worst team in the league for successful crosses into the box.

Obviously doesn't help JSL's cause because his movement is generally good once the ball goes out wide and he takes up decent positions in the box to receive crosses.

It's just other areas of the game where he's a bit physically weak in holding the ball up.

It's not that i don't like him, just that he gets pushed off the ball, or knocked aside for high balls a tad too easy for me.
Vic should teach him to put himself about physically a bit more.

He's been disappointing recently but I still think he can be an effective striker for us.
It's not like he did nothing against Fulham, held the ball up well a couple of times but didn't really get any ball in front of goal.

I thought he was OK Tuesday but must disagree that he was absolutely fine on Saturday. The idea comes directly from watching his performance. That’s not to say he can’t develop and his stats are fine for his first season and age, no point arguing that. Personally I don’t quite see it, but hope I’m wrong given he’s ours now.

JSL - It's his first season in the Premier League . He has already had to work under two Managers , the first of whom could not figure out what way we should play - back 4/5 etc . Larsen still did well under O' Neil - there is little wrong with 7 goals if you are not the main man up front .
Under Pereira , he has been injured , and clearly VP has a more clearly defined style of play that he wishes to adopt . Bear in mind too that Cunha probably will not be here next season , which might mean a more central role for Larsen which will be worked on over the Summer .

It's too early to knock him yet in my view .
