Welcome to Wolves Jorgen Strand Larsen

Yeah he’s the panto villain at the moment. A fair few fans didn’t warm to him last season anyway(look at the criticism when he had scored 9), add the Newcastle transfer saga in and the arm waving trying to get the crowd going and it all leads to over the top criticism. We’re all guilty of that at times but the constant shit shouted at JSL is embarrassing.
He can have no chance of ever getting to a ball and i can guarantee 2 of the lads behind me will be shouting how shit he is and should have fucked off to Newcastle. It’s got to the point where Tolu got cheered for winning a header yesterday which was a simple knockdown that he headed out of play.

Has he been terrible at times this season yes but he’s a striker playing with no service. He holds it up and he’s got no one to play off, he flicks it on and no one is running behind him, our crossing ability is really low. We’re basically back to flogging him like we did under O’Neill at times and he doesn’t know what to do and he’s received constant criticism from game 1. Good luck trying to get him to perform with all that bullshit.
My impression is that when he goes for headers it's in a half hearted way that gives the appearance of trying instead of a strong, determined effort that says that ball's mine. It frustrates me so I'm guessing others are seeing the same. That said his service has been poor and getting on his back can only make matters worse.

Glad about the last few posts, thought it was just me that thinks the criticism has been a bit ott. Thats not to say I think he's been good or that he doesnt deserve to be called out.
He's been no worse than many others. I dont buy this "he's phoning it in" stuff or that he isnt putting any effort in. From what I've seen he's trying hard enough, he just isnt particularly quick or mobile (not great for a striker). He needs to do more and be better but I dont think what happened last night is helpful.

I think if his body language wasn’t so poor he’d be getting less stick. It’s painful to watch. Not saying it’s necessarily fair but it’s something he could easily fix
Also could have been the club feeding Madeley a line, but him basically ducking the Everton and Newcastle games when he allegedly could have played does not sit well.

Exactly this. He jumps for headers but has no desire to win the ball. Obviously he’s getting next to no service but even allowing for that he’s been poor. He’s certainly not busting a gut to get onto the few balls that do come his way in the box.

This is a tad harsh for me though. His body language is no different to a lot of strikers when they aren't getting service or scoring, and he is getting the worst service in the league. I don't think anyone goes out there with the attitude they won't try because they didn't get a move months ago.

Won 4/5 headers in the first half at Villa, guess what happened? No one was running in behind even though this was something they had clearly worked on and Villa regained the ball really easy. Maybe we should just stop launching it at him with no one even close to him. It was the same last season when he was getting criticised.

He’s definitely frustrated hence the body language sometimes and last night was the first real sign of a lack of confidence from him when Andre put the ball across the 6 yard box and Larsen had stopped. Just a week ago his movement in the box at Villa got him 2/3 good chances.

Even worse is that he was instrumental in adding to Vitor and Teti's bonfire of shite players with Wolfe and Lopez
I’d be interested to know what he thought when we signed them. He would know their ability etc. surely he must’ve been thinking ‘nah, this ain’t going to work’ and so you think he would’ve ’sold the club’ to them 🤔

He’s an easy target after scoring 14 last season to 1 this, seeing as all our other (creative) ‘decent’ players have gone.

Thing is, there is nothing to cheer about and keeping him was seen as vital to us surviving. That’s fallen flat so he was always on a hiding to nothing.

I think his body language at times again doesn’t endear him to the fan base. I think that’s potentially just how he appears rather than reality though

Twice last night in the first half right in front of me he looked at the defender as the ball was in flight then made a half hearted effort to jump whilst at the same time keeping his head away from the ball and the defender. I have no doubt he made the decision to jump whilst having no intent to actually win the ball.

Dont get me wrong, Im not suggesting he's been anywhere near where he should be, he just seems to be getting far more hate and very angry hate than anyone else.
As I said last night I was foaming at the mouth angry with Andre, a player I think is gunna be top class. To try and get yourself a 5th yellow so you dont have to face Arsenal is the most cowardly thing Ive seen. People will tell me I have no prove of that of course but thats how it felt.
I suppose it all boils down to the fact we're all pissed off with nothing positive to hang on to so are looking for individual scapegoats on top of the general carnage.

But that’s my point, if he wins it where does he head it and who to? His judgement to balls up to him and challenging centre halves is still one of the weaker parts of his game but because he’s 6ft 4 fans think that should be his game. He should be better at it but just playing to his strengths would be a better thing to do.

It’s a complete mess but on some long balls there are players near him and he still doesn’t make a real effort to win the ball.

I put this in the matchday thread

Players who are quite open about wanting to leave are always going to be in the firing line in the eyes of supporters, it’s the nature of supporting your team. Had JSL come back after all the Newcastle stuff scoring goals and looking like he was giving everything…he would have been “forgiven”, but he has done neither of those things. It’s true that his lack of goals aren’t all on him, he is playing in a very poor team that creates little…but he is paid well and supporters are absolutely entitled to take their frustrations put on him as he is not contributing. At this level, JSL is average and we will rue turning down Newcastle’s money.

I would swap JSL for Jimenez in a heartbeat in January.

André, never going to be top class. When playing well he is good at what he does but he has a limited skill set. He would have to be world class at what he does to be considered anywhere near the top echelons of midfielders in the Premier League.

My opinion on JSL is that the behaviours and characteristics that he’s getting flak for now are broadly unchanged from a year ago. It’s the position of the observer rather than the player that’s changed. This isn’t to really dig the guy out. Rather, in my opinion, he is lazy and could improve his work rate. That’s the kind of improvement that could come through maturity. Obviously there is a change in that back then he was scoring and now he’s not, but I broadly agree that’s a function of what’s going on around him rather than a change in his attitude.

If we he wants to progress, wherever he goes, he’s going to have to learn to work harder. In simple terms, like Raul did.
