I understand the jury is out on his end product etc but the raw materials are there. 18m is relatively risk free as he is young and could get more or less are money back of things don’t work out. I think a huge amount of our success this season will depend on how quickly we can get from defence to attack. We'll be under pressure in our own half much more this season and the key will be to (i) retain our shape, (ii) be patient in defence, (iii) win the ball back and distribute it quickly to our wide forwards and (iv) have our wide forwards run at the opponent from within our own half.

Traore may well be lacking in the final third, but he will be very effective in helping us turn defence into attack. The question mark is whether he will make the right decision once we're in the final third. He won't be expected to cross the ball as much in our team - it will be teaching him to play the right balls into Jiminez and the other forward and getting into the right positions for the return.

I'm less sceptical about this one than I was to start with. If you look at how quickly we broke from defence to attack last year, it's clear that this is a key part of Nuno's gameplan: compact shape in defence, break at pace as soon as we win the ball back. I can see how Traore fits with that.
