VAR Stay or Go

VAR Stay or Go

I would get rid. Apart from offside I do not think it has improved decisions. It also has the downside of removing the spontaneity and joy when a goal is scored, thereby ruining the match day experience. So bin, bin, bin.

I'm definitely in the minority but I would keep it. VAR has produced some poor calls but like Big Mean Bunny, I don't want to go back to the days of absolute howlers and goals that should never have stood being allowed or completely missed by officials. I've seen some terrible calls in the Championship this season, I don't believe the alternative of no VAR is necessarily better albeit both options are flawed.

Easy for you to say when this is also you:

Don't have a ST. I am on the waiting list and will probably be offered one, I won't be buying it.

I've only been to three Wolves matches this season which is the fewest I've been to since I was in school and relied on my dad to take me

Its honestly not my intent to shame you or to suggest you're less of a fan, I don't have a season ticket anymore either and have been to one game this season but I have been sat in the ground numerous occasions after the euphoria of a goal sitting bewildered not knowing what the fuck it is they're looking at.

It's got to go.

This. It’s fucking shit in the ground and makes a mockery of spending a fortune to have less clue than stream watchers at home.

Plenty of times I’ve only known what’s going on a someone’s messaged me.

Keep, but sack the current pool of referees. Rangers/Celtic game was interesting the other day for one of the few times the VAR called the ref into action, and the ref stuck with the on field decision. It can work, we just seem to mess it up in the Prem

I've been in the ground plenty of times when VAR checks are going on, just because I've not been to many Wolves games this season doesn't mean I'm simply an armchair fan. I was recently there against Coventry and had no clue at all what was happening for their first goal, I get it; there is a massive amount of confusion, happy to admit that as the communication to those in the ground is awful. But I still think scrapping it takes us further back, more massive errors and even less scrutiny on officials which is already lacking. But I have similarly been to Championship and League Two games this season where the officiating is just as bad, if not worse without it.

Happy to be in the minority but I'd rather not be painted as having this view as I only watch from my TV.

Up until 6 months ago I was keep but get it sorted out. I feel if they haven't got it right by now they're not going to, it really does take away from the match day experience, fuck it of. (They won't obviously)

I’m leaning towards binning it off, mainly because it’s just not improving.
I do however think it’s mainly due to a complete bunch of incompetent officials who close ranks when they’ve clearly fucked up.
The system has over promised and very under delivered.
It’s moot point as it’ll never go through I’d be surprised if 50% vote for it let alone 14 clubs.
I guarantee the super 6 will want it kept as will the likes of Villa and Newcastle as will Everton because Sean Dyche says he likes the system.

You can't seperate it though - you watching at home know what is going on, you're seeing the replays.

If you were in the stadium for all of them your attitude would be different.

As I say, I'm not trying to do you down or come across as a superfan as you've already attended more than me this season but I've found my own raging intolerance for VAR has mellowed as an arm chair fan. I still think the calls like the West Ham equaliser are against the spirit of the game but I'm less invested now than I was so it's more of an eye roll and move on.

If you could sack
Pawson
Atwell
Coote
Salisbury
England
Brookes
Harrington
Kavanagh
Madeley
Jones
Hooper

And some of missed out and replace them with component officials then I’d be willing to give it a another try but that’s not happening.

That's not an option though

I just hate the wait on every goal you score, old days it was Quick Look at the linesman then you could see the ref running back to half way that was it.
Absolutely dread it when you see the hand go up saying don’t restart.
Always said a system that allows to score from a wrongly awarded corner or free kick but will forensically check for a push in a build up to a goal is fundamentally flawed.

Once you erode the excitement of a goal you run the risk of eroding the whole thing.
People will say it’s the same in rugby and having tries chalked off but the thing is tries aren’t the only way to score points plus the average amount of tries per game is probably double that of goals.
With goals being so hard to score the elation of them going in is a unique experience.
