UEFA Nations League & Euro 2020 Qualification

Only just seen the full squad, absolutely fuck all in there making me want to watch that. Dreadful.

Very much this. I really missed football during lockdown.
I didn't miss england games though.

Somehow Dwight McNeil can't even get a spot above Nelson, Sessegnon and Hudson-Odoi in the u21's. Good old Aidy.

If he gives him minutes he'd better play a back 3 and not hang him out to dry

Maybe he'll listen to the likes of Hinchcliffe's stock phrase which is a variant of "Conor Coady is a midfielder being used at the back" and we'll get to see a glorious reprise of his 2015/16 showings.

Might still be better than Harry Winks, mind.

Based on the squad

---------------------Pope----------------
-----Gomez-----Coady-----Mings
TAA -----Rice---Mount---Foden------AMN
----------------Kane------Sterling

There's not a 2 I'd trust in midfield which compromises Sancho unfortunately.
Henderson, Chilwell and Maguire for Mings, AMN and Rice if available. Ox for Mount if he ever gets a decent run of games

I know we aren’t interacting but what do you think of that? Chance for him to prove himself but are we seeing the effect of a lot of players getting positive tests?

If he gets on then its a chance - unless he is outstanding then unlikely he will massively feature after.

Same probably true of Conor though.

Southgate clearly sees Grealish as a wide forward (he isn't) and therefore he's currently behind Stirling, Rashford, Greenwood and Foden. Unless he plays a blinder in these games from a wide position he's got no chance of regular selection.

He might have a chance if we change our shape for one of the games, but Southgate has seemed reluctant to do this since the World Cup.

If he does go 3 at the back then I guess he will go 3-4-3 to get Sancho and Sterling in there, whereas the WC was 3-5-2.

Guess the CM will be Rice partnered with someone else. Don’t want it to be Dier or JWP, doubt he will chuck Phillips in there, Foden and Mount too attacking and AMN and Grealish don’t play there for their clubs. Guess you could get away with a more attacking option against the calibre of opposition though.

There's not much to pick from in CM and the left side of defence. But I'd go:

..................Henderson

.......Gomez - Coady - Keane

TAA ---- Foden ---- Rice ---- AMN

......Sancho --- Kane --- Sterling
