UEFA Nations League & Euro 2020 Qualification

Doc withdrawn, ineffective in a right sided midfield position. Which having seen him play there for us in a league cup game I can't say I'm surprised.

We used to have this with England years ago, people saying that the answer to our problem on the left of midfield was to put either Cole or Bridge there. Tried it once, it was shit and we never did it again. The skillset to play as a wide player in a 4-4-2 is vastly different to what Doc does now, just as he's no RB these days either.

He's never going to be effective outside of the way we play really. As for Ireland they're pretty awful, Gibraltar still in with a shout whilst it's 1-0.

Ireland going to be in some dull stuff under Mick if this is the best they can muster against the might of Gibraltar.

One question I need asking please. Why the fuck is Jeff Hendrick cupping his ear to an empty part of the ground behind the goal.

Probably for the LOLZ.

Loads of players do stupid celebrations in front of empty stands as if folk were in it.

Mick has said that Doherty doesn't have the skills required to play right wing...

Yeah. Being able to cross helps if you are playing as a winger.

He’s very perceptive then. Doherty is a wing back and only a wing back.
Not even a wing back is he in the conventional sense, O'Neill tried that. Full credit to him, but he's so lucky that his best position is in a pretty unique system. He's been ROI's most impressive player in league football this season so two consecutive managers are trying to get him on the pitch, but it can't and won't work unless Richard Keogh turns into Conor Coady and they move their captain to RCH.

Yep they are slowly coming to that conclusion, just unfortunate that him and the captain both play same position, Mick has already said that he will play 4-4-2, so interesting to see what happens.

Doherty and Coady for that matter play unique positions and doubt will never reach the same heights playing conventional positions.

Wales far from the finished article but they're so much better to watch than they were under Coleman. His football was appalling.

Slovakia with a great two chances. Hennessey keeping them in the lead. Slovakia haven’t been great but had 2 or 3 golden opportunities.

Not the best in game management from Giggs, shouldn't be taking both Brooks and James off, they've got rid of all their threat on the break now (I mean Bale's still there, but he doesn't look fit).

The absolute state of this. Playing San Marino and you put Callum Paterson up front on his own.

Fleck and McGinn have been probably the best two all round midfielders in the Championship this season and can't get a game.

McGinn isn't that good. Villa fans like him because he tries hard but he's nothing special.
