Trump

I knew someone would pick up on it!

To be honest, Trump has now specifically threatened civilian infrastructure. Which is a war crime under the Geneva convention.

So Starmer actually needs to grow a pair and say that the UK will not be implicit in a war crime, so the air bases and British air space are now closed to Donald's little war.

No, I wouldn’t go so far as that.

Like Charlie Kirk, I don’t necessarily want him killed violently, but I’d feel absolutely no sympathy for him or his family should it happen.

Ok well I asked Keef to qualify if grandchildren were included in his little imagined slaughter spree, he said Yes and you Liked the post, hence my...confusion.

Interesting how so many of the 'progressives' on here are so eager to ditch democracy and reach for actual murder as an option, all from the comfort of their armchair of course

It's people posting on a forum, something, something...

Why are you making notes when we're all just people posting on a forum?

But yeah I'm actually not inconsistent about not advocating the public murder of whole families including children for their political beliefs.

While we have our notebooks out, interesting that you wave this through but get more animated about people criticising Jose Sa or Matt Doherty 😅

If you're thinking of investing in an ISA when the new financial year starts I'd be tempted to wait a day or two
Don’t know how/if it’s possible to move this to the Financial Literacy thread but have to ask, why do you say that Andy?

There’s every chance there’s a blatantly obvious dry joke in there that has gone completely over my head, or perhaps something logical and equally obvious regarding the markets and risk, but given the current chaos and uncertainties I’ll take stick my head above the parapet anyway and ask the question.

Cos stock prices will crash and burn if the lunatic goes ahead.

What @Tredman said.

Everything is so volatile at the moment that a few days can result in big swings.

There is an argument (and evidence)that people shouldn't time the market and that "time in the market beats timing the market" though.

Personally, I'll keep an eye on the media and oil prices and see if there is a dip / opportunity, but if not I'll just buy and forget. I'm investing over a minimum of 5 year time period anyway.

Ahh ok, thank you, makes sense.

Never even occurred to me as ISA’s to my mind are strictly cash ISA’s so Stocks and Shares ISA’s weren’t even on the radar when reading Andy’s post. Never been tempted by S&S ISA’s but respect they have a place, just not for me.

Thanks again, appreciated.

Interesting, thanks for the reply.

Investing is a sensitive subject at the best of times but seems particularly so in the current circumstances. Not a subject that can be ignored and burying your head in the sand isn’t going to do much good either.

Feels a lot like Covid times to me, some very strange spikes in some very strange markets. I’m pretty risk averse long term nowadays (might be an age thing) hence cash ISA’s not S&S, but am very interested in the short term Covid-style spikes in alternative markets, but you’ll know a thing or two about age/attitude to risk profiles etc.

Anyway, probably best to take that over to the FL thread going forward.

We're just over 12 months in of a 4 year stint. I don't think the world can wait another 3. Where do you draw the line, when he starts throwing the other N word around (after yesterday's insane post he can't be far off), when he actually uses a tactical one? You can say that would never happen....but you can say that almost every day of the week with this monster, the bar he sets is ground level right now.

Ideally article 25 is invoked in the next few days, and he's arrested put in a padded cell then well and good (still have deal with the rest of the psychos), but if there's a Valkerie type plot more power to them.

I'm hoping this is all just trump negotiating "tactics", promise something unbelievably shit and then roll back to a position that isn't unbelievably shit but worse than where he started from.

Declare victory and then onto the next enshitification

If Trump keeps setting deadlines for abominable acts and then pushes them back the threats become meaningless and Iran and the rest of the world will see that standing up to him has been successful. The only way the SoH will be opened is with a ceasefire. Without a ceasefire and just more bombing there may well come a point at which more moderate Republicans, who don’t want the world as they know it falling apart, will start to see that Trump isn’t the solution but the problem. As I said a week ago regime change in the US is more likely than in Iran now.
