Only know one Iranian, Hamid, owns The Boatyard in Bridgnorth and makes a damp fine burger. Really nice guy too
Bloody sausage fingers againSoggy burger bun? You're alright.
I'd say kidnapping 66 civil servants in 1979 is pretty warlike. Are you saying Iran 'started' the conflict with the US? You might want to check your history, if so.
BTW, no way am I condoning Trumps actions.I'd say kidnapping 66 civil servants in 1979 is pretty warlike.
I think you need to read about what the CIA/USA/UK did in 1953. THAT was what started Iran on the path to where it is now. US intervention is ALWAYS the start of bad things. If you know why those hostages were taken Iran is not the bad guy who initiated things.I'd say kidnapping 66 civil servants in 1979 is pretty warlike.
I'd say removing an elected leader in 1953 and replacing him with a leader the US and UK could control like a satrap was also a touch bellicoseI'd say kidnapping 66 civil servants in 1979 is pretty warlike.
Absolutely, thats kind of the point I was trying to make, there are lots of 'threads' to the troubles in that area. You can go back to WW1 if you want, Britain and France trying to carve up the Arabian peninsula and surrounding areas to get their hands on all that lovely oil.I think you need to read about what the CIA/USA/UK did in 1953. THAT was what started Iran on the path to where it is now. US intervention is ALWAYS the start of bad things. If you know why those hostages were taken Iran is not the bad guy who initiated things.
Iran had a perfectly fine social democracy with a popular, elected government who decided that they wanted to take back control of their own oil. Oil companies (BP I'm looking at you) decided they didn’t like Iran having control of their own oil, they wanted to keep the massive profits they were making and so the CIA manufactured unrest and overthrew the elected government and installed the vicious Shah who dutifully allowed the oil profits to keep on flowing.
After the Islamic revolution ousted the Shah, the US spirited him away along with hundreds of millions of dollars that Iranians thought should be returned. Which was where the hostages come in. Everything going on in Iran now can have a line drawn straight back to US intervention and oil companies profits.
Gets?Is this how the rest of the world gets radicalised against USA?
