The best advice when in a hole is stop digging. Trump seemingly knows better. If US troops land on Iranian soil the possibility of both sides coming to an agreement in the short term almost certainly disappears. I'm pretty sure Iran would welcome it as I suspect the worm has turned and a procession of body bags arriving in the USA with the accompanying economic downturn would see regime change as likely there likely as it is in Iran.

I'm sure Trump's advisors will be telling him politely to wind his neck in and get a cease fire as soon as possible, it's anybody's guess whether he will listen.

I’m more than happy to see USA humiliated but not through the loss of life of their armed forces. Seeing Trump have to climb down when the reality of the mess he’s got into strikes home would be much better. Sadly it will probably only happen when bodies start being repatriated.
