Trump

Call his bluff. Don't pass anything. Utter gridlock isn't a great way to win mid-terms.

In everything he does, he HAS to be the bully. Somebody really needs to smash him on the nose.

One of the most dangerous and sociopathic humans to have ever lived. And he's President. With his finger on the nuclear button. Who surrounds himself with sycophants who are too weak and pathetic to stand up to him.

We could have posted all this ten years ago...but what's the solution?

How Trump is isn't a surprise, but he's been President twice, had a significant mandate this time and the stark fact is the US went for him over Harris/Walz and their politics.

Anyone progressive (or at least not regressive) should surely be asking what exactly the Dem's plan is from here.

Last time they campaigned on fear of the alternative. It didn't work. Labour are finding that out too. You need to offer voters more.

The Dems didn't realise that plenty of people fear/dislike them too (for a variety of reasons); this is what happens when you convince yourself you're the good guys in every scenario and you take certain voters/demographics for granted...reality disconnect

One guy I recall saying he voted for Trump because he offered him things. All Harris did was 'talk about the other guy.'

Couple of things:

1) Denial is extremely powerful. Some conservatives who otherwise find Trump distasteful really couldn’t imagine him doing all of this once in office. His first term, as now evidenced, was downright logical in comparison.

2) It can’t be overstated how small a percentage of Trump’s voters actually like him. I don’t know if I can explain the dichotomy of “he sucks but this government sucks worse” that has run so strongly here since Obama’s first term.

"Don, you know how you said last week everything was knocked out in Iran? Erm, where are all these missiles and drones coming from now?"

They're super fast at rebuilding. A few months back their nuclear program was completely obliterated, yet last week they had recovered to being a couple of weeks away from making a bomb. Remarkable.

Trump, much like Reform, offers a simple proposition' Vote for us and we'll hurt the people you hate'

The fact they they'll hurt you as well doesnt enter the equation. Basically people have shit lives and want others brought down a peg or two.

Also, as the saying goes, 'If you're used to privilege, equality feels like oppression'.
