Trump

Yep it’s absolutely not a bad thing he is no longer able to destroy so many of his own peoples lives.
But the reality is that he’ll be replaced by someone very similar. It may trigger a popular uprising but that’s unlikely to end well so long as the Republican Guard oppose it which on recent history seems more than probable.

Yep the only way you’re changing it for those you want in is by heavily funding rebellion forces or physically putting your own troops on the ground.

You don’t get what you fully want from bombing the crap out of places. You can damage infrastructure and wipe out the top brass but eventually someone else will come back more motivated and with far more anger inside them.
Iran is huge I mean if you drive from its most westerly point to its most easterly it’s the equivalent of driving from London to Bucharest.
Population of 93 million, its vast a big population a good number of whom will be angry and motivated.
Put it this way if you hated the current government but a foreign power bombed the crap out of you telling you it was for your benefit the reaction wouldn’t be welcoming.

I think the idea was to kill the man at the top which would lead to mass rebellion and forced regime change from within. They killed an 86 year old man who was probably head state in name but probably had somebody else running things daily. Also how ingrained into Iranian society the regime is also it’s very large and frightening for the population.

Khamenei wouldn’t have settled for being a figurehead, I don’t think. I’m not sure anyone would want to be behind the curtain in that way, either; it’s as much a religious position as political, and my instincts say that anyone in power over there would find the idea of making decisions for Khamenei to be somewhat blasphemous.

Ancient Clerics running a regime sort of went out of fashion when the Popes lost a lot of sway over the Holy Roman Empire after the Thirty Years War.

RAF Akrotiri has been attacked by a drone strike, some good reliable UK defence bloggers are claiming a typhoon was hit as it was taking off, not confirmed that last bit.

Israel’s getting a right seeing to, Tel Aviv getting flattened.

When Trump stands amid the smoking rubble of a destroyed middle east, proclaiming he has brought peace to the area, I will be unable to think of much other than a Team America puppet.

On the surface he would still be seen all powerful, just a natural thing when your 86 you need some help with stuff.

The girls school that was hit was 600m from an Iranian base. (Although that wasn't confirmed as the target)

Funny how they can isolate one person and kill them when they want to, but can hit a school "by mistake" when they don't.

BBC News - At least 153 dead after reported strike on school

The number of people who can't seem to grasp that it is possible to:

1. Be vehemently opposed to Israel and the USA attacking and waging an imperialist war (yet again for oil reasons in all probability) on Iran, and,

2. Be vehemently opposed to the despotic Iranian regime that murders its own people.

It is beyond the comprehension of many morons that it is not only both possible, but morally responsible to hold both of these positions.
