"This is the level of the utter stupidity and ignorance that people opposing the right wing are up against.
We are told not to say that they’re stupid or ignorant; that to do so is condescending or a typical example of the ‘liberal elite’ looking down upon what they call the ‘genuine concerns’ of ‘ordinary’ people.
This, in itself, is part of the strategy deployed by the right wing because they are the ones who are reaching out to the gullible and the ‘poorly educated’ or those who Trump admitted to ‘loving’. Of course he would and when he said that, the crowd cheered. It was as though they missed the utter contempt that Trump held them in.
So to with a Poundshop Trump like Farage and other elements of the far right who, looking across the pond and loving the fascist regime, are now invoking ‘Christian’ cultural paradigms to raise the fear of attack from ‘others’ to new and different levels.
This is coordinated action. It is a global fascist movement aided and abetted by a supine media who have failed, for many years, to do proper journalism.
In a rational universe, Kristi Noem would be sacked for this ignorance and stupidity. But it’s not rational. The rule books for decency, any semblance of honesty or any sense intellectual seriousness has been completely abandoned.
The opposition to this can only come from people who are willing to speak out and be active in opposition to the fascist playbook. The opposition has to grow and it has to involve more than posting on fb. Write to MP’s; to local councillors, newspapers, to broadcasters and ‘influencers’. Support independent commentators.
This is another battle".
