Trump

Dunno what the game is with Greenland, US already has a military base there and the option for more if it wants, they've had more in the past but shut them down. Its all just sabre rattling from the maniac.

If people were ever held to account for violating or ignoring the 'international rules based order' this sort of thing might not happen.

Completely agree.

As I am in education, I am partly responsible for this because I, and of course many others, have failed to include knowledge and understanding plus a bit of critical analysis for all students everywhere so that they understand the importance of the international rules based system. As ignorance is embedded, the 'antis' wherever they are in the world continue to undermine it and to manipulate the masses against it.

For example, the role of the institutions of the UN, EU, and lower down the food chain, the ICJ, ICC and ECHR etc are simply not known in the broader world that we inhabit and thus become easy targets.

On a more local level, councils in the UK, as an example, are also misunderstood and degraded in favour of centralisation.

I am afraid that we are accelerating back into a world dominated by the conflict generated by unregulated political maniacs, corporations, religions and oligarchs.

Hmm. :-(

If he puts force on the ground beyond what is consented or in any way annexes land that is an act of war against NATO.

Beyond what is consented by that agreement for the airbase I meant.

He needs someone to give him a bloody nose. Send the SAS to Washington to pick him up for a nice show trial in the Hague.
I think the US can resurrect the bases they shut, about 16 I think, not 100% on that though.
As for your second point, yes please.

Karoline Leavitt:
“President Trump has made it well known that acquiring Greenland is a national security priority of the United States, and it’s vital to deter our adversaries in the Arctic region. The president and his team are discussing a range of options to pursue this important foreign policy goal, and of course, utilizing the US military is always an option at the commander-in-chief’s disposal,”

Simple statement needed from NATO and the EU

"If the United States utilises its military on Greenland or against any NATO territory, this will be viewed as an act of war and will be treated accordingly."

There are two other nuclear powers in NATO after all. He needs to be told to back the fuck off.

I get the instinct to stand up to him and say“we’ll treat it as an act of war”, but that’s just theatre if you’re not actually willing to go there, which we won't be. If it came to a straight non-nuclear US vs Europe fight, the US would absolutely batter NATO. The UK and France won't point nukes at the US over Greenland. I doubt we'd even do it over Scotland tbh.

I can see him ending up with Greenland in practice anyway — basing rights, resource access, a cheque to Denmark — without it ever formally changing hands. Then it probably gets quietly unwound in a few years when US politics swings back.

If it slides into an actual war we’re talking full-on global chaos. Israel will jump in on America's side, Iran uses it as an excuse to smash Israel, nukes start getting waved about and the whole thing goes to shit very fast. You're alright in Australia though :ROFLMAO:

Our Nukes are basically American nukes controlled by Americans but paid for by us anyway.

That’s a worry, it’s definitely the correct direction to point them in.

Surely you’re right. If he wants to he’ll simply send more troops to Greenland and just tell the Yanks he’s actually invaded it. The majority of his base will believe it, if they even pay any attention at all. Plenty won’t even know where Greenland is. It may as well be Greenock.

Nobody’s going to war over Greenland. No doubt the US will in due course be invited to boost their military presence there. The stupid thing is if Trump wasn’t such a massive cock it could all have been done by agreement as I’m sure Denmark and the Greenland people would accommodate that, but sadly he likes waving his dick in the air.

Thanks for that, it confirms my memory of the situation.
As others have said the rhetoric coming from the idiot is mainly to turn the nedia away from the inportant stuff, it also plays into his ego for willy waving.
